But that wasn’t who I was. Though with my parent’s impending financial crisis...

I put on a brighter smile, “But we all have to grow up sometime, right?”

He lifted his hand from the bar to lightly trail his fingers along my chin and jawline, cupping my face ever so lightly with his hard hands.

“No. Not necessarily,” he said in a low, husky growl. “I’ve come to appreciate you for who and what you are. I don’t want to change you, make you aspire to be anything but you. Though still,” he said with that wolfish grin widening, “I’ve just got to have you all to myself. Whatever it takes.”

My head tilted to the side as I looked up at him. It was a way more intense conversation than I could really have. My life was falling apart and I didn’t need some guy I knew in high school coming in and trying to...

To what? Have me all to himself?

Hah. Unless he was ready for a trophy wife or something, that wasn’t going to happen.

“Is that so?” I asked, raising a brow to him.

His thumb trailed along my cheek, its hard, smooth surface so calming in its own way.

“Every beautiful party girl needs someone to keep them, no? And I can just feel that you need a man right now to take you on and keep you in the manner to which you’re accustomed, huh?” he said, leaning in closer, his tall form looming over me as his dark eyes bored into mine.

And I so totally did.

I guess that’s what people talk about when they talk about fate.

My smile broadened, and I shrugged my shoulders a little, playing coy. “Maybe,” I said with a little sing-songness to it.

“No maybe about it, is there?” he said, so confident in his knowledge of me, that grin never fading. “Back in high school I couldn’t offer you much. Just a lot of promises. Now? Things have changed, Trish-the-Dish.” He leaned in, his shaved-cheek brushing against my smooth one as he murmured gruffly into my ear. “I’m going to buy you. Make you mine. Whatever the cost. It’s already decided. From the moment you turned me down and stayed here, I knew I’d come back for you.”

His deep, husky words so dark, so certain, so authoritative. He had to have me, and never let me go from his thoughts in the years since high school.

And I couldn’t lie... the idea of this guy pining over me for so long, that I had made such an impression on him? That turned me on like I couldn’t believe. Thinking about him spending his nights at home, jerking off, moaning my name...

I let out a sigh of arousal, my smile so genuine. It was like all my silly little dreams were coming through. The world does give you what you need!

“Buy me?” I repeated, licking along my lower lip. “What makes you think you could afford me?”

There it was, that devilish glimmer in his eyes. I’d brought it out, and he looked so damn devious, so smug.

“Because I made it so, my sweet Trisha,” he said in a smooth husk. “It took a while. Study, hard work, the building of a fortune. Then the buying up of your parent’s company. Firing them. Buying up their debt to foreclose on their mortgage,” he licked his lips as if his hunger was rising just talking about it. “All so you’d have no choice. Nowhere better to turn. Than me.”

I stared at him in shock.

It wasn’t even that I believed him, not really... but how could he possibly know all that if he was lying?

It made my knees quiver, and I had to hold onto the bar just to stay upright in my stiletto heels. I was gonna be sick, I just knew it, and I tried to say something but I couldn’t.

And there it was again. The thought of him going through all this obsession, just for me, and I was angry and scared and it was all rollin’ around within me. But the worst was how much the idea of him being so obsessed with me made me horny.

He’d obsessively planned it all, set me up so that my options were security with him, or take my chances. Live like everybody else.

It was sadistic.

And he looked to be loving it.

His two strong hands steadied me, holding me up, just like he was offering to do; he’d tear down my life, but keep me up. As long as I did what he wanted.

“I’m not asking much, Trisha,” he growled, leaning in so close to me. “Not that you give up being a party girl to settle down. Just that you be my party girl,” and the emphasis on his possession was so strong, so fierce. “Travel around the world with me on business trips. Live the high life in every major trade city on the planet. The finest booze and drugs. And have your brains fucked out by me every goddamn night.”

I wanted to be so pissed. I wanted to scream, to hit him, to call him every name in the book.
