“I was just thinking the same thing,” Lawrynn said, causing both of them to laugh out loud.

They lay there until the sun came up. If their life was going to be as beautiful as this moment, they were both ready for it.

Epilogue

“I want to thank everyone for coming out today. This is an epic moment in my life and my families’ legacy. It feels fucking excellent to be able to not only see my dream become a reality but to also be able to employ seven hundred people on the island as well. I want to thank my nephew by blood for taking this ride with me. This is just the first of many. To my other nephews, the ones that just never went home, blood couldn’t make us any closer. I’m proud of each one of you hard heads. To my nieces, I want to say thank you for standing by their sides. I know they are a lot to deal with. Don’t be afraid to go upside their heads. To my wife, Ella, we did it sweetheart. We found each other at the right time, and I thank the most high every day that I wake up beside you. You make me better, and I just make our pictures look good,” Uncle Jimmy said as he smiled out at the crowd.

He looked up at the sky, knowing that his brother was looking down on them with a smile on his face. He had promised his brother that he would step in and be there for Murder if anything was to happen him. It was a hard pill to swallow that two months after they made that promise, he was laid out on the ground dead. A lone tear fell from his eye. Life had been good to him and his family.

He saw a crazy look on Murder’s face, so he hurriedly closed out his speech. It had been a while since they got their hands dirty, but the look Murder had let him know that it was time to get dirty again.

“I hope everyone gets acquainted with the resort and all the free food and drinks. Thank you all again for coming to the soft opening weekend. If there are any concerns, please don’t hesitate to bring them to the attention of the staff. Other than that, enjoy the weekend of festivities that we have planned,” he said before leaving the podium.

It was the soft opening weekend at the resort that he and the boys had opened in Jamaica. They had gotten out of the illegal shit when he did. He loved that they were all now making that legal money together. This is what life was all about. By the time he got through the crowd of people congratulating him on the opening, he found Allen, Pain, and Murder huddled in a corner. He didn’t have to ask what was going on because Murder hit him with the problem.

“Laura’s here. Don’t ask me how, but she is. We sent the ladies to the spa, and that should give us enough time to grant Laura her wish,” Murder said.

“What the fuck is up with her? She knows that coming here is just like committing suicide. You told her if she came back around you were gonna kill her. I just don’t get her. Nell’s talked to La-La on the phone, and she’s in Montana with some rich white guy. Why can’t Laura be more like her sister?” Allen said.

“Because she has a fucking death wish. I hate dumb ass hoes like her,” Murder told them.

Murder took off toward where Laura was standing and talking to one of the other guests. Uncle Jimmy had to admit that she looked like she was taking care of herself physically. She had to be out of her mind, though, to even come there. When she saw them heading her way, she tried to play off the fear in her eyes. She took her drink to the head before she looked them in the eye.

“Hello, family,” she said with a scared smile.

“Come take a walk with us. If you make a scene, I’ll snap your fucking neck where you stand,” Murder said.

As they all walked they surrounded her as if they were her security detail.

They led her to the room that served as the break

area for the employees and the supply closet for the janitorial workers as well.

“I came because I just wanted to see how beautiful Lawrynn is while she’s pregnant. I want to apologize to her and all of y’all, really. Life with no contact with my family is like a slow death. I miss all of you. The boys don’t want anything to do with me either. I never thought they would turn against me too. I’m out here alone, so I might as well be dead,” she said as she cried.

They all looked at each other and started laughing. Her tears may have been real, but you never know with Laura. She had burned everyone in that room, and now she had burned herself by coming there.

“Let me hear you say it,” Murder said to her.

“Say what?” she cried.

“No one can stop the love of a boss,” Murder said.

She rolled her eyes at him.

“You’re one arrogant motherfucker. You’re not a boss, and I’ll never call you one,” she said. The fake tears were gone, and she was now angry for whatever reason. “None of you motherfuckers move me one way or the other. Y’all ain’t shit. This legacy was built on bullshit. It will fall sooner or later, you dumb motherfuckers,” she screamed.

Laura was so busy being dramatic for nothing that she paid it no mind when Murder reached behind his back. Her ranting and raving was cut short by the bullet that entered the middle of her forehead. Her body hit the ground hard.

“I tried to let ya dumb ass live, stupid ass broad. Unc, call somebody to come drop her ass in the piranha pond. That part of the resort is closed off still. By the time it opens, they should’ve eaten everything left of her dumb ass. Let’s go check on the ladies,” Murder said and put the gun back in the small of his back.

On their way to the spa, they ran into the ladies in the main lobby of the main building. Each man marveled at the beauty of his woman. The ladies were looking at how sexy their men were dressed in all black.

“Why are y’all looking like y’all are up to no good?” Mrs. Ella said what all the women were thinking.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about, woman. How was the spa?” Uncle Jimmy said, trying to change the subject.

“Have you seen my dad?” Lawrynn asked Murder.
