After getting in and starting the motor, he turned to Ryan and spoke seriously to him. “Honey, when we get on board, I’ll be treating you like any other prisoner, only worse. We have to make this thing believable. Don’t be hurt by anything I say to you, okay?” He patted Ryan’s stomach. “I don’t want you to have a stomachache. ”
“Okay, I understand. ” Ryan’s voice suddenly sounded very small, having lost all the bravado of a few minutes before. “Just…”

Within minutes they were pulling up to the dock, where Kyle had brought the ship around. It was a sleek, dark starship, built to hold a crew of twenty, with a large cargo hold. Blayde explained that although they carried many different types of cargo in their trips around the interstellar system, the cargo hold was fitted with cells for this trip, both open cells and one solitary, enclosed cell for holding prisoners considered to be dangerous. This was where he planned to house Ryan for the trip.
