When Rain and Carter left the club, Jessica Maximus got up from the bar and went back to the office to finish what she was doing.

Chapter Eight

Conversations was the dance club that was run by Jackie Washington. Like Ed Weather at Paradise Fish and Chicken, Jackie had suffered heavy losses when Conversations was hit by DP’s people. That night, Jackie was the intended target, but when she broke her usual pattern and left the club with Baby Chris, the hit team shot up the club and told Kwame Coleman that they missed her.

Rain and Carter had gone there for the same purpose, to talk to her about rebuilding her crew. The rebuilding of the dance club wasn’t complete, but gambling and prostitution were still open for business.

Rain and Carter entered the building and made their way up to the office, but when they arrived, Baby Chris told them that Jackie wasn’t there. What he didn’t say was that he hadn’t seen her in two days.

“You know where she is?” Rain asked.

“No, Rain, I don’t,” Baby Chris lied.

“What about Travis?”

“I don’t know where he is either,” Baby Chris lied again. He knew where Jackie and Travis were, or at least he knew where they were earlier that day when she called him.

“When you talk to her, let her know that I need to see her,” Rain said and left the office with Carter. Baby Chris relaxed and was glad that they left before he had to tell Rain anymore lies.

Since the shooting stopped, Jackie hadn’t been focused on business either. She and Travis were at The Plaza on 5th Avenue, an upscale hotel on Manhattan’s upper east side with Fiona, one of Simone’s women that Flip had kidnapped.

It began the night Jada West came to Conversations to report that Flip had kidnapped some of Simone’s women. When Jackie and Baby Chris went to rescue the women and deal with Flip, Jackie met Fiona. She was wearing a red Johanna Ortiz Maloka ruffled, one-shoulder dress that could barely hold all of her in.

Jackie’s eyes feasted on Fiona’s deep chocolate skin and those succulent breasts that were begging to be released from the dress, imagining the possibilities, and knew that she wanted the beauty.

At the time, she was involved in a somewhat complicated relationship with Travis, Angel and Avonte, so when Fiona asked, “Is there anything I can do for you?”

Jackie replied, “Maybe another time.”

But when the shooting started, Angel and Avonte abruptly said that they had grown tired of the arrangement and decided that it would be fun to take a road trip across America.

That same night that they torched one of the Petty’s gambling spots, Jackie and Travis checked into The Ellington Park Suite. Jackie called Simone and invited Fiona to join them. When Fiona arrived at the suite, Travis let her in wearing just his pants.

“Good evening, Mr. Burns,” she said softly and touched his chest. “My name is Fiona. May I come in?”

“Of course, you can come in.”

“Thank you,” she said and sauntered into the room looking stunning in the Roland Mouret Brattle one-shoulder dress that she was wearing. Travis escorted her into the living room of the suite where Jackie was reclining on the couch.

“Hello, Fiona.” Jackie was wearing a silk chemise that hit her mid-thigh. The sexy design was revealing, with the bodice of it cupping her breasts through the sheer netting, her hard nipples pressing against the fabric. “It’s a pleasure to see you again, Fiona,” Jackie said, and ran her tongue over her lips because Fiona looked delicious.

“It’s a pleasure to see you again, as well, Ms. Washington.”

Travis sat down next to Jackie. “You were right,” Travis said to her. “Fiona, you are amazing.”

“Thank you, Mr. Burns.”

“You can call me Travis.”

“I will do just that, Travis. Now please,” Fiona said sweetly. “Tell me, is there anything that I can do for you?”

“Can you dance?”

“I can. And very well, I might add.”

“Dance for us, Fiona. Slowly,” Jackie instructed.

“As you wish, Ms. Washington,” Fiona said and began to dance without music. Her movements were slow and seductive, and Travis’ hand drifted to Jackie’s bare thigh as he watched.
