Yarissa looked around quickly. “Oh.”

Rain laughed. “What?”

“Just having problems seeing Rain Robinson as a little girl, that’s all.”

Rain gave her the finger. “I need you to call Carter. I need to see him.”

Yarissa smiled. “Does he know where this place is?”

She had seen the way Rain looked at Carter when he wasn’t looking; enough to know that she wanted him. And since Rain usually got what Rain wanted, Yarissa thought that it was an appropriate question.

“No, he doesn’t, so let him know, and make sure that he knows to keep it quiet. The fewer people that know what’s going on and where I am, the better.” Rain said.

When Carter got the call from Yarissa, he was at Romans and had just heard about what happened at Conversations from Jackie. Naturally, Carter was the first person that Mileena called as soon as they drove Rain away from J.R.’s. He had been keeping quiet about it as Rain requested, but had been monitoring the situation with Rain through Mileena and Rose.

After letting Chao Hassan know that Rain was all right, Carter got two of his men, Sean and Zack, left Romans and headed to the address that Yarissa gave him. What Carter didn’t realize at the time, was that he was being followed.

When they pulled off, Brooks started up the Nissan Armada that he was driving and followed. As ordered, he, Busta and Martel were looking for a place to hit Carter.

When Carter arrived at the house, he told Sean and Zack to wait while he went inside to talk. Since they didn’t know what happened to Rain, they had no idea where they were or what they were doing there. When the bell rang, Yarissa went to open the door to let Carter in the house.

“Hey, Carter.”

Yarissa always thought Carter was one fine ass man and she wouldn’t mind getting with him, but he was her best friend’s man, but that’s what an active fantasy life is for, she thought and led him to the stairs.

“How is she?” Carter asked as he followed Yarissa upstairs.

Carter thought that Yarissa was fine and wouldn’t mind going up in her, but she was Mileena’s friend, so Carter was content to admire the sheer beauty of Yarissa’s ass. Marveling at the swaying of her hips, and the way each cheek seemed to jump out at him with every step she took.

It’s practically begging me to reach out and grab a handful.

When they walked in the room, Glenda was in the room with Rain. She had given her a mild sedative in an attempt to keep Rain still for a while, so she had nodded off.

Glenda’s eyes opened wide when she saw Carter come in the room. She hadn’t seen him in years and didn’t know that he had gotten out. Not wanting to wake Rain, she got up quietly and approached.

Carter smiled when he saw Glenda coming.

“How you doing, Glenda?” he asked and hugged her politely. Surprised, but not shocked to see her there.

Glenda kissed Carter on the cheek. “I’m fine, Carter,” she said and then she put a little distance between them. “I didn’t know you were out.”

“Couple of months now,” Carter said as Rain began to stir. “How’s your patient?”

“I’m fine,” Rain said before Glenda could answer.

Carter looked at the bandages around Rain’s head and shoulder, and then his eyes traveled down, and he looked at the bandage wrapped around Rain’s thigh and smiled.

“So you say,” Carter said and walked toward the bed. “But those bandages tell me that you ain’t exactly running out in front today.”

“Still, that’s the word. I’m fine. Understand?”

“Understood,” Carter said and sat down in the chair next to the bed. “Any idea who hit you?”

“No. You hear what happened at Conversations?”

“I had just got off the phone with Jackie when Yarissa called. She said she woulda been there, but her and Baby Chris went to visit Flip.”

“What was up with that?” Rain asked.
