“Fuck it,” he said, hit the door and went out in the club. He looked around until he spotted her and then a determined Carter went after her.

“Carter Garrison twenty feet behind you and closing fast,” Latresia advised.

Mileena stopped and turned around. “What do you want, Carter?”

“I want to talk to you.”

“About what?”

Carter stepped closer. “How are you, Mileena?”

“I’m fine.” She stepped back, because she didn’t want and certainly didn’t need to be that closed to him. “What else do you have to talk about?”

“I just wanna talk.”

“You and I have nothing to talk about,” Mileena said and went behind the bar. Carter stood there anxiously and watched Mileena take out her keys and check the register. A member of security stepped up behind Carter.

“Excuse me, Mr. Garrison, I’m sorry but I am going to have to ask you to take a step back. You cannot block this area.”

Carter looked over his shoulder and saw that two members of security were standing behind him. He nodded his head and took a step back. The second he did, Mileena stopped what she was doing with the register and came from behind the bar.

“Mileena, wait.”

But Mileena kept going, making her way through the club, with Carter and security behind her. He looked over his shoulder and saw them.

At least they sent two of them, he thought as Mileena went behind another bar.

Carter stopped, turned and looked at the two members of security. He stepped to one’s chest.

“Are you two following me?”

“No, sir. We are following Mileena. It is our job to follow her when she makes her rounds just in case she decides to pull money.”

Carter nodded his head. “Good. I’m going to talk to Mileena.” He pointed at them. “Either of you got a problem with that?”

“No, sir,” one said.

“No, Mr. Garrison. No problem at all,” the one other said and took a step back.

“I didn’t think so.”

This time Carter waited until Mileena came from behind the bar and then he blocked her path.

“Why won’t you talk to me?”

“I told you, we have nothing to talk about.”

“Yes, we do.”

“What? What do we have to talk about?”

“We need to talk about us.”

“There is no us,” Mileena said, spun on her heels and walked away and Carter was right behind her. He caught up and walked alongside her, trying to talk to her, but he could barely hear himself talk over the music, so he gave that up. When she went in the restaurant in J.R.'s, he followed her in. Since the area was designed for conversation, the music wasn’t as loud.

“Please, Mileena. Stop for a second and please just talk to me.”

“And I keep asking you, what do you have to say to me Carter?”
