“Upstairs,” one said.

“Where else that nigga be?” another said.

“Up there countin’ that money.”

Hawkins said nothing, he just turned and went upstairs because they were right. Marcos liked to count his money and since that’s why he was there, Hawkins had no problem with that. He walked in the room and Marcos quickly grabbed and pointed his gun.

Hawkins put up his hands. “You gonna shoot me?”

“You ever think about knocking?” Marcos asked and tossed Hawkins a knapsack.

“You start locking the door, I’ll start knocking on it,” Hawkins said and slung the knapsack over his shoulder.

“That’s half.”

“Cool.”

“Give me another couple of days and I’ll have the rest for you.”

“You call me as soon as you do. I need that money to put this thing together. Once I make this move, I’m counting on you to step up your game.”

“You know I’m ready.”

“I know you are,” he said. “I’m out.”

“What’s your rush?”

“I got some shit I need to do,” he said, knowing that he left Vangee asleep at the Ramada and he wanted to get back there before she woke up and left.

Damn, she’s fine and that pussy … he thought.

“Why, what’s up?”

“I got some things I need to talk to you about. Shit I wanna do now that we about to make a move.”

“Okay.” Hawkins took a deep breath and sat down. “Talk to me,” he said, even though he really didn’t give a shit. He was out. As far as he was concerned, this was Marcos’ show now and he could run it anyway he wanted. But he couldn’t let Marcos know that he was out until he got his money.

It was about that time that Rain got a call from Carla. She was in the streets with Carter, Jackie and Baby Chris. They had just come from burning Mobley’s last spot to the ground, so Rain was hyped.

“This Rain.”

“And this may turn out to be nothing.”

“We ain’t got shit going on right now,” Rain put the call on speaker. “What you got?”

“You know I’ve been running an algorithm to track their calls and movement,” Carla paused. “I’ve been monitoring Marcos Parker’s activity and he made a call to a burner a couple of hours ago and now that burner is at his location.”

“That might actually turn out to be something,” Jackie said. “We pretty much wiped out all of his big earning spots. Marcos might be the one place he’d go to move product.”

“Since we were gonna get around to killing Marcos anyway, whether Hawkins is there or not, now is as good a time as any to shut that nigga down,” Rain said, and Jackie drove in that direction. “And you keep monitoring that burner. Let me know if it moves.”

“Acknowledged,” Carla said.

When they arrived at the house, they were surprised that there were no men outside the house and that they were able to approach without being fired on. Once they reached the door, Rain, Jackie and Baby Chris took out their guns.

Carter kicked in the door and Jackie quickly tossed in a flash-bang grenade. The unexpectedly loud noise caught the men off guard. Carter opened fire, hitting one in the chest, Baby Chris followed him in and hit another.

“What was that?” Marcos asked.
