“You, sweetheart, can’t cook.” He wrapped his arms around her waist, holding her close. “I can do everything. I figured you wanted out of there for a reason,” he said.

“Yeah, it’s not easy with Reaper. He always seems to want the same, like he’s trying to show everyone he’s just as important as you. I don’t know. Maybe he is.”

“You know I’ve got a couple of questions about him and you. Do you think we could meet up sometime next week, talk about it?”

“I’d love to.”

He nodded and let her go. He wanted to do more than let her go. Bending her over the counter, fucking her, and filling her tight cunt with his cum was what he wanted to do. Instead, he went back to finishing serving. He tried his gravy again, satisfied with the taste, and began to serve up into bowls.

Robin helped him carry everything. Once all of the food was at the table, he called for dinner. Robin took the seat next to his, and when Dog arrived, he sat opposite him at the other end of the table.

“Dog, I’d like you to meet Robin. Robin, this is my good friend Dog.”

After all the introductions were over with, people began to serve themselves. He carved the meat and passed it to those who wanted some meat and waited until people were ready and finished before sitting down and serving himself. Robin had already started to serve him.

One look at Reaper and he saw the other man was pissed, but he didn’t give a fuck. Robin had served him for a long time. She’d lived in this house, been best friends with his son. They had a connection Reaper couldn’t just wipe out no matter how hard he tried.

“This is rather nice. I’ve got to say I’m a little shocked to see this brat at your table, Preacher,” Do

g said, pointing at Bishop.

“I’m his son.”

“And still a rat. I mean, come on, you handed his worst enemy the woman he loved out of petty teenage jealousy. That’s got to be hard for you. With all due respect, I’d be using your head as an ornament.”

“Er, Anne isn’t part of any of the lifestyle,” Robin said. “She’s an … innocent?”

“Don’t mind me, Robin. I find this fascinating.” Anne sat opposite Bear and was beside Robin. Bishop was on her other side.

Eating had come to a stop.

“See, women like a bit of gossip and besides, sweetheart, there’s a lot to be had at this table.” Dog smiled at her.

“Oh, don’t mind me. It’s nice not to be the center of gossip,” Anne said.

“You got a tale to tell?” Dog asked. “I’m all for hearing recent news.”

“I don’t think she wants to tell her personal business to you,” Bear said.

“It’s fine. My husband is a whore. He doesn’t get paid for it, but he sleeps around with anything that will have him.” Anne laughed. “He doesn’t like Robin, though. Probably because she shut him down firmly last night.”

“I have no interest in your husband.”

“And he does like them young,” Anne said.

“You’re not sad about that?” Bishop asked.

“I have to do what I need to do for my kids. Staying with a man I can’t stand, it’s par for the course. Haven’t you had to do something you can’t stand?” Anne asked, looking at Bishop.

This time, Robin burst out laughing.

Preacher detected the signs of hysteria. He didn’t stop Robin though. She needed to get this off her chest. “Believe me, Anne, he thinks he’s God’s gift to women, and yes, Bishop had to do a lot of stuff he didn’t like. He had to take me to the doctor’s to get my ultrasound, right? He didn’t stick around or anything. It was too painful for him to deal with.”

“You were carrying my brother or sister.”

“Sister,” Robin said. “And let me guess, it was all my fault again, huh? Yeah, Robin, the whore, she sleeps around with everyone. Getting knocked up was totally my idea. It had nothing to do with the jealousy of another woman because of you, right? No, that couldn’t be it because in the scheme of things, you’re completely blameless.”

“Fascinating,” Anne said.
