Her words strangled when he reached out, stroked his thumb over the corner of her upper lip. A delicate shiver raced through her, and her eyes darkened, right before she took a hasty step back.

‘What are you doing?’ she demanded huskily.

‘Chocolate,’ he stated abruptly, his own voice gruff and uneven. ‘You have a tiny smear of chocolate on your lip. I don’t think you want to take a video call wearing your dessert, do you?’

She exhaled. ‘No. Uh...thanks.’

He brought his thumb to his lips, taking the time to lick and savour the delicacy and her taste.

Saffie made a tight, erotic little sound in her throat, one that punched through his resistance straight to the heart of forbidden desires.

Meu Deus.

He needed to move, turn away. Put some distance between them. But he couldn’t. Worse still, he didn’t want to.

Not when she was watching him with those wide blue eyes. Not when those lush lips called to him with siren-strong temptation.

She blinked, her nostrils quivering as she inhaled. ‘Gingham...’

‘We have ten minutes. More,’ he rasped.

‘I should...we should...’

Joao caught her to him, lust, hot and torrid and alarmingly strong, burning a blazing path through him.

What he was doing was terribly unwise. But he couldn’t help himself.

He wrapped his arm tight around her slim waist and brought her flush against his body, his senses singing when she didn’t resist.

Then, far too many weeks after that mild-altering first time, Joao fused his mouth to hers and tasted the woman who by all reason and logic should’ve remained untouchable.

CHAPTER FOUR

SAFFIE’S BODY WAS on fire, bypassing every shred of common sense to blaze in gloriously forbidden delight, even as her senses went to war with each other.

This wasn’t supposed to happen.

Her every nerve ending shouldn’t have awoken at that simple touch of his thumb on her mouth. Her breasts shouldn’t have tingled in wild anticipation.

Joao wasn’t supposed to drive her to the brink within seconds of kissing her. He wasn’t supposed to use his hard, virile body to drive every thought from her head so easily...so masterfully.

And she...

Thoughts melted away as she strained against him, her mouth eagerly opening beneath his, craving more of the delirious pleasure that shouldn’t have been flowing through her bloodstream.

A platonic three months.

No repeat of Morocco.

No loss of control.

And yet here she was, her every cell crying out in glee as Joao took complete and effortless control with just one touch. Every touch revving her senses into overdrive.

In her not too distant past, she’d been in a relationship that had lasted several months before it’d fizzled out and died a natural death.

Nothing she’d experienced then came close to what she’d felt with Joao in Marrakesh. Or the sensations he was evoking in her now.

Her breasts grew heavy and tingled as Joao pinned her against the glass wall in his study, propped her up with one muscular thigh between hers.
