I shake my head mutely, moving my eyes to the way his strong fingers do every button up.

My heart feels so full, to the point of overflowing. This is the only man in the world who can make me feel like this. He grounds my wild side and makes me a better person in so many ways.

I find my fingers undoing his hair tie. “I love your hair. It’s so sexy.”

Ian blinks. “That’s the first time I’ve ever heard someone describe my hair as sexy.”

I run my fingers through it. “The color is striking, and on top of it, when you wear it in your tiny ponytail and put on a suit, I can’t help myself.”

“From tearing it off?” He gives me a sly smile, and I chuckle, my smile soft.

“That and feeling so happy that you belong to me.”

I see the startled happiness in his eyes, and he takes my hands and presses a kiss to my knuckles. “I thank God every day for you. It’s like you are made just for me.”

I am quiet, a warm glow in my chest. “I love you. I think I always have.”

He takes my hands and place them behind his neck and watches me, his eyes dark with emotion. “You make the world so much better, Agatha. I don’t know when I fell in love with you along the way but loving you has been the most incredible part of my life.”

I feel my eyes burn at the seriousness in his tone, and my voice is rough when I manage to say, “Let’s go home.”

He nods, and when he stands up, we are chest to chest. He leans down to take my mouth in a gentle kiss, a slow love-making that is as tender as it’s desperate, conveying all his feelings.

I melt into his arms.

Being with Ian changed me.

I noticed the small alterations in my temperament. The edge that I used to have has softened. My temper became milder. My smiles are genuine, and there is this bubbling happiness in me that both scares and excites me at the same time.

As we walk out the door, I feel Ian’s hand curl around mine, and I smile, content.

“I have a meeting with a client at four. I might be late.” I brush my hair in the mirror and

watch Ian button up his shirt.

He glances at me in the vanity mirror. “Jacob?”

“He’ll be with me. Henry is dropping some files at my office. Jenna is coming back to work today, and I’ve already told her to hold on to them for you. Remember to pick them up.”

Ian leans back when I spray the hair spray to keep my delicate curls in place and makes a face. “That stuff is toxic.”

I waggle my eyebrows at him. “It’s my man repellent.”

He walks over to give me a peck on the lips. “No. I’m your man repellent.”

When he pauses after saying that, I give him a dry look. “Maybe you should have said that in your head first.”

He shrugs and moves to pick up his waistcoat. “Still true. Let’s have dinner at home. Philip says that Charlotte wants to see you. Apparently, she got the whole story out of Zayn.”

I sigh, pausing in the midst of applying the slash of red lipstick that is my signature look. “I know. She is pretty mad at me. She called me yesterday. So, we’re all going to be having dinner here. Sarah got a promotion at her job, so there’s that too.”

“Principal?” Ian looks over, interested.

“Vice Principal. And it’s of the kindergarten school. She insisted on still teaching her classes, so she’s pretty happy. The pay is good.”

Ian tugs on his shoes. “Fergus is loaded. I don’t see why—” When he catches the dangerous gleam in my eye, he says hastily, “Never mind.”

I give him an exasperated look and put my stuff in my bag.
