Cody quietly said, “I know what I’d be up to if I was Heath right now.”

Spencer let out a long sigh, trying to not visualize making love with Maizy all on his own and failing miserably. Two nights in a row of being with her, getting to know her and touching her, just made him want more.

“Yup,” Cody growled.

Ryan stepped away from the bar, where he had been watching the security monitors to check in at the front. Spencer looked at Cody, who nodded, and Spencer beckoned to Ryan and said, “You messing with that blonde at the bar?”

The new bouncer got a little half smile on his face but shrugged. He’d been enjoying the occasional perks of being a club bouncer since joining the Twisted Bull crew, and Spencer couldn’t exactly fault him. He was young, built the way the ladies liked, and he’d been getting free pussy waved in his direction since his first night. Spencer figured it’d take a little more experience for him to figure out what they already knew.

Spencer tilted his head in the blonde’s direction. “You know she’s married, right?”

He shrugged nonchalantly, but the furrow between Ryan’s eyebrows told a different story. Their friend might be a man whore but he wasn’t into coming between a woman and her husband. He shrugged again. “I didn’t see a ring. No biggie. She was just telling me her woes but she made it sound like it was a boyfriend.”

“I figured. She comes in here alone most of the time. But he’s big and he’s a jealous fucker, just so you know.”

Ryan nodded. “Thanks, man. I appreciate that.”

Cody scanned the club. “Just be careful, Ryan. A shoulder to cry on has a way of becoming a dick to ride on. We don’t want it to blow back on you. Everything okay otherwise?”

“Yeah. How’s your lady?”

Spencer smiled, liking the sound of that. She was their lady. “She’s fine.” Just because the guy asked didn’t mean he needed details.

“She sure is somethin’,” Ryan replied with obvious admiration. “Not that I was scoping her the other night or anything, but damn. So…the three of you are…”

Cody cleared his throat and said, “Yes, the three of us ‘are,’” and lifted a hand when Ryan opened his mouth like he wanted to offer a suggestion. “And we’re not looking to make it four. She’s all ours. Get your own lady.” Spencer chuckled at his subtle emphasis on the word “lady.”

Ryan laughed good-naturedly. “Loud and clear, boss.”

The new bouncer was working out just fine. Spencer could remember how he and the others had been when they’d started working club security together. They’d had their share of women throwing themselves at them and couldn’t fault Ryan. He’d learn discernment on his own once he discovered the drama often wasn’t worth the benefits.

Ryan wandered off through the crowded tables and Spencer said, “He’ll do all right.”

“Hope so. I’d like to start scheduling him as the lead with a couple of the new guys so we can all have an occasional weekend night off together.”

“Maizy seemed pretty understanding about our schedules.” They’d talked with Camilla months before about adding a secondary crew so that they’d have a little flexibility with their hours and she’d readily agreed. She’d even giggled and nailed them with the real reason. She’d also believed they’d find their belly dancer and had told them they’d want time to spend with her the same way Ben and Quinten made time for her.

Now the reality was staring him in the face. He checked his watch, wishing the hours would fly, which made no sense. He probably wouldn’t see her until that weekend.

The dull ache in his chest persisted as he remembered the feel of her in his arms, the way she trembled as he pleasured her, the taste of her lips, and the soft sounds she made when he held her. He rubbed his thumb over the scratch marks she’d left on his biceps, resurrecting the sting a bit, and a primitive sort of need came over him.

Frowning, he thought of the way she’d paled when they’d encountered that member of the school board in the store. He worried that it would eventually come down to her making a choice between the three of them and her job. That thought made the dull ache increase. Their relationship was definitely blooming, but it was far from a done deal.
