So yeah, this was kind of out of control. Had the Iron Man finally lost it? Had the ruthless, emotionless CEO become a pile of pudding, mooning over his smartest employee? My emotions and feelings had never gotten the best of me before. I was like a helpless, weak kitten, mewling for milk; that’s how far I’d fallen.

And yet, it wasn’t bad. In fact, it felt really good. The sense of awareness when she was in the room. The feel of those heavenly curves. The electricity that shot between us, our mind-meld complete.

Was this what love was?

If it was, then sign me up because the vulnerability was strange, yes, but it was also different. She was changing me in ways that were completely unexpected. In all of my relationships, this was right about the time I would get bored and ditch some female or another. In the past, my interest could only be held for so long, usually a few weeks max.

And yet with Mia, a couple months had passed since I’d met her, but I wasn’t getting bored. In fact, I felt like I was in some type of vortex, unable to control my feelings or my rising need to see more of Mia all the time.

I wasn’t used to these churning emotions, and honestly, it was agonizing. This wasn’t the usual Theo Wainwright, but what could I do? Mia had me wound around her little finger, and that was that.

But there was a dark side to this too because for the first time in my life, insecurity crept into my heart. Although it sounds impossible, the thought definitely crossed my mind: what if Mia didn’t feel the same way? What if her feelings were just blah? What if she was in it for just the sex?

Could it be possible that a girl would use the famous Theo Wainwright, and not the other way around?

Shit, my head spun. Because the old Theo wouldn’t have cared. Sure, use me. Use my fortune, use my mansion, use whatever you want, honey. You’ll be gone in two weeks so it shouldn’t really matter.

But with Mia? I’d never met someone this amazing. So yeah, the tables had been turned.

I rushed through my morning meeting. Fuck. Today I was having lunch with my beautiful brunette, and whoever these corporate drones were could stuff it. Already, pictures of the gorgeous woman’s smiling face filled my mind, my body hardening in anticipation. So once the meeting was done, I stood abruptly.

“Looks like it’s 11:00,” I said perfunctorily, glancing at my watch. “Let’s save the rest of the agenda for tomorrow.”

The executives shared puzzled looks, but they nodded. No one crosses Theo Wainwright, and with swift strides, I was out the conference room and halfway to the sushi restaurant on Pictogram campus.

My girl was there, already eating a spider roll.

“Hey,” she greeted with a shy smile. “I’m sorry I couldn’t wait, my stomach was growling with hunger, you should have heard.” She giggled.

No matter. I loved that my curvy girl ate, the more, the better. In fact, if Mia gained twenty pounds, she’d look even better. But suddenly, she stopped chewing and asked while blushing and covering her mouth. “Is there something on my face?”

I was staring and didn’t even realize it. Reaching across the table, I took her hand. “No, sorry. I was just admiring how beautiful you look.”

Her cheeks reddened. “Theo, thank you. You’re too sweet.” She giggled again, shooting me a wink.

Frankly, she was sweet. Mia’s new wardrobe looked amazing on her, what with the pink Pictogram t-shirt, belted high waist shorts, and silver tassel loafers. You gotta love a girl who will put on your company’s logo. Plus, in the last few weeks, she practically shone, whether from working here, the new clothes, or a combination of both. Her sassy attitude turned me on.

She squeezed my hand and said, “I’ve got to get back. I am helping one of the other developers debug code, so we’ve only got an hour together.”

“Of course.” I nodded. For some reason, even this turned me on because she was a hard worker and working for my company. Shit, I needed more than just an hour of lunch with Mia. It had been a few days since we last had sex, and my hope was that after lunch we could find a spot to be alone.

As usual, the time passed in a blur. We laughed, chatted and devoured some good food, on the same wavelength as usual. Walking out of the restaurant, I took Mia’s hand in mine, bringing those soft fingers to my lips.

“Some alone time before we get back, sweetheart? Or do you have too much to do?”

She smiled at me regretfully. “I wish I could, Theo, but I promised I would help with debugging.”

Goddamn. We were holding hands right on Picto-Lane, the equivalent of Main Street for Picto-Town while openly displaying affection for each other. Yet I didn’t care one bit. Slowly, I leaned down to her and pressed a soft kiss to that delectable pout.

Of course, the girl sighed slightly, her plush form pressed against my hardness.

“Theo, everyone’s looking,” she said, giggling. “Is that okay?”

Shrugging, I walked to our bikes. “Who cares? Let them look.”

She gave a radiant smile then, one that warmed my soul. “Okay.”

Pedaling along Picto-lane, Mia looked up and down street, taking in the drug store, the dry cleaner, and even the company bar. “You’ve done a marvelous job replicating a tiny town.”
