It had taken a few days to get Benji to agree to invite Evan over for dinner, but Glenda was glad she had kept after him to do it. She liked Evan. She liked him a lot, actually. The love she had for Benji was strong, steady, and nearly unconditional, but she lusted for Evan. And secretly, so did Benji. Although his lust for Evan was different; it wasn’t sexual.
Benji lusted for Evan’s attention. That Evan was so envious of everything Benji had made it that much more necessary. Evan’s jealousy stoked Benji’s ego.
