His eyes rolled back and he grunted out his impending climax. “J-Jake!”

All of the muscles around my cock began to flutter and squeeze me until my rhythm faltered and I began to lose control. Suddenly, my hand was covered in warm fluid, and I snapped my eyes down to see the last of Oz’s release shoot long and far up toward the side of his jaw.

I slammed into his body one last time and finally let myself go.

A couple of minutes later, I realized I was sprawled on top of Oz with a layer of warm cum adhering our stomachs together.

I lifted my head up and wiped a little drool from the side of my mouth just in time to see Oz watching.

“Sorry,” I said, feeling the blush steal across my face. “Didn’t mean to squash you like that.”

Oz’s legs were wrapped around me and his hands were running idly through my hair.

“It’s okay. I promise I’m not going to break.”

“I guess I should get up and…” I pulled away from him with an uncomfortable ungluing sensation and removed the condom. After a quick visit to the bathroom, I returned with a warm wet washcloth but stopped before I got all the way back to the bed.

“You know what? Would it be okay if we showered instead? I’d like to clean you off and get you settled on the sofa in some warm, comfortable clothes in front of the fire. Then I can fix us something to eat.”

Oz studied me for a moment. I could see his protective shield once again rising into place and I knew why. “You know you don’t need to stay and take care of me, right? I’ll be fine on my own,” he said quietly.

I felt stung by his words, even though I knew what he was doing. He was giving me a way out. It was his way of reminding me about the barriers I’d put in place twenty-four hours ago when I’d told him I was leaving.

I needed to take him up on the silent offer. I’d already complicated the hell out of things by fucking him. It was going to be so much harder to leave now that I’d tasted him, been inside of him, had his arms wrapped around me so tight I was sure he’d never let go…

He was both safe and physically recovered from the ordeal.

There was no need for me to stay.

But none of that factored even one iota into my next words, and I didn’t allow myself to stop and wonder why that was. In truth, I didn’t care.

“What if I want to stay and take care of you, Oz?”

Chapter 13

Oz

I kept trying to tell myself just to relax and enjoy everything that was happening, but the part of my brain that was intent on protecting my heart kept repeating the same words on a loop over and over again.

It’s not real, Oz. He’s leaving.

But sitting on the couch tucked in a mountain of blankets with Boo on my lap as Jake puttered around the kitchen felt real. Having him hold me in the shower and lovingly wash my hair and body had felt really real. And having him buried deep inside of my body as he’d whispered the most amazing things to me? You couldn’t get any more real than that.

Right?

“Okay, it’s not fancy, but it’s a classic,” Jake said as he approached me with a plate. When he handed it to me, my eyes widened at the sight of the grilled cheese sandwich next to a small bowl of tomato soup. My stomach rumbled even as my brain began screaming the potential calorie count of all that cheesy goodness.

“Is it not okay?” Jake asked as he stood over me.

“No, no, it’s amazing,” I said. “I… I can’t even remember the last time I had a grilled cheese sandwich.”

“Grilled cheese and bacon,” Jake corrected, before returning to the kitchen for his own plate. When he sat down on the couch next to me, I turned so I could face him as I ate.

“Where did you even get the ingredients?” I asked. “I mean, cheese…” I shook my head. “I don’t go anywhere near the dairy section when I’m in a grocery store.”

“I got them from my place,” he said. “I ran over there while you were getting dressed.” He looked over his shoulder at my kitchen. “You’ve got mostly rabbit food in there, so I didn’t really know what to make.”

I smiled at that. “Yeah, well, rabbit food kind of comes with the job.”

“Clothing designers can’t eat real food?” Jake asked as he took a bite out of his sandwich. Between the melted cheese that seeped from the sandwich and Jake’s gorgeous lips, I couldn’t decide which I wanted more.

Yes, I could.

Jake’s lips would always come out the winner.
