“You’re the best mother in the world,” Tripp said, and kissed her lips.

“Mama, will you ride Sparkles with me?” Gracie asked.

“Oh, honey, I would, but I’m not feeling so great. I was hoping your daddy would ride with you.”

Tripp looked at her with concern. “You’re getting sick?”

She shrugged. “Just in the mornings lately.”

Tripp’s eyes shot wide, and a blast of pure joy raced through his veins. “Darlin’…how long have you been feeling sick in the mornings?”

She frowned, and Tripp watched her do mental math in her head. “A few weeks now. I keep thinking this bug will go away, but it’s taking its sweet time.”

That blast of joy turned hot with want. No, not want. Need.

“I think you need to sit down,” Tripp said, and ushered her to the bench nearby. Gracie was right behind them and sat on Charlotte’s lap.

Tripp sat next to his girls, facing them. “I’m going to ask you a question,” he told Charlotte, and she nodded. Tripp took a deep breath. He was nervous as hell and excited all at the same time. “Darlin’, when was your last time of the month?”

Charlotte started to do that mental math again, but within four seconds, her eyes went wide.

Tripp’s smile barely fit on his face. It was so wide it hurt.

“It’s been…two months…” she whispered. “I’m…I’m…?”

Tripp nodded. “I think you’re pregnant.”

Tears filled her eyes, and she hugged Gracie tighter. A big smile split her face. “Oh my God! We’re going to have a baby?”

“Sounds like it.” Tripp’s eyes burned hot. Aw, hell. He was going cry, too. He hugged his girls, and Gracie started rattling off questions.

“Baby?” She jumped off Charlotte’s lap. “Mama is having baby? I’ll be a big sister!”

Charlotte flew up off the bench. “We have to tell Grammy!”

Tripp laughed and climbed to his feet. Charlotte threw her arms around his neck and kissed the hell out of him. Not that he minded. The Montgomery women were happy and healthy and his whole world. Out of the corner of his eye, he caught sight of Sparkles dressed as a unicorn. There was hell of a lot of magic floating around his ranch, and it was all thanks to a city girl.
