Erica sat at her desk and turned on her laptop. Knowing it would take a minute to go through all of the new TBK security protocols before she could get to work, she got up and went to get a cup of coffee from the snack bar.

Cam was enraged by the turn of events. Mitrofanov was about to be released. “How can this be?”

Jason sat behind his desk, his face storming like the rest of them. “I thought the CIA was impenetrable.”

“There’s no system or place that can’t be breached.” Black sighed. “The documented proof had been sent to The US Consulate General in Yekaterinburg, Russia. My man on the ground had paperwork that showed Mitrofanov as the corporate secretary of the shill company.”

“Then all we need is to get that documentation here to the States. We can keep the bastard locked up,” Cam said. “There’s ten million dollars of the Knights’ money we can try to get back, too.”

Erica looked at her screen and was happy to see her solitaire game pop up. She tapped her laptop. “Maybe you’re not as indestructible as everyone believed.”

Her head was spinning. She wasn’t ready to face the tons of e-mails she knew would be waiting for her. She stared at the screen. Play Again?

Why not one game before I dive in? She clicked the button and a prompt appeared. Password? There had never been a password to play the game before.

“Damn, this is taking security to the extreme.” She stared at the flashing cursor. “Su

rely this doesn’t have anything to do with Kip’s viruses in our systems. His calling card didn’t pop up.”

She sighed, thinking about the strange jumble that was on the Texan’s whiteboard.

Her fingers went to the keyboard and without a thought she typed in Gen1us$KL$w1ns.

“Yekaterinburg?” Dylan remembered the agent who had been assigned there, or more like sentenced for a big screw-up. “The man you had there was Grayson. Is he still on that assignment?”

“You’ve been gone four years. How can you remember that? “

“I haven’t forgotten much.”

“Grayson is dead, and there is no trace of the documents he had.”

Erica’s laptop screen flickered several times. Lines of code that reminded her of the Matrix movie flashed before her eyes.

Kip Lunceford’s fingerprints.

She picked up the receiver of her desk phone to call Matt and Sean, but there was static on the line. There had been trouble with all the TBK lines from time to time with the new security protocols in place.
