Chapter Nine

The next morning Jena woke up due to setting her faithful alarm in her head the night before. It had never failed her. All she had to do was say she wanted to wake up at whatever time and she would. It required no wires or batteries, just her dependable brain.

I have to get out of bed without waking Matt and Sean.

Getting up between the two gorgeous men would be quite a feat though. She had never seen such a large bed in her life. Much larger than a king size. It had to be custom made, but they still had slept very close to her.

The sex had been amazing again, and again and again.

Mmm. Okay, Jena, get back on track.

Slowly, very slowly. Voila. She grabbed Sean’s shirt and proceeded to the bathroom. Her ultimate goal was to show them she was no slouch in the kitchen. She started looking for a toothbrush and of course there was a brand-new one still in its package, along with a new tube of toothpaste. Did they always think of everything? The bedroom they were in was for guests. She wondered whom else they had entertained there.

What a ridiculous thought, Jena. You know you have to leave in a few days. But oh, if I could stay and bring Kimmie and Mom. What a wonderful dream, but you have to face it, it is only a dream. I need to keep my heart in check, but damn, is it already too late? They are the most wonderful men I have ever met in my entire life. Ever. Even if it could work, would Mom ever understand this lifestyle? Oh, for God’s sake, Jena, get to the kitchen and see what these Texans have on hand.

She cooked sausage, bacon, eggs, and Belgian waffles. She poured orange juice and made a pot of coffee.

After setting the table, she saw Matt and Sean emerge from the bedroom wearing only underwear. That suited her just fine.

“I thought I smelled something cooking.” Matt put his arm around her. “You did all this?”

“Me and the elves, but they belonged to the union and had to leave.”

Sean came over and kissed her. “Thank you, baby.”

“You’re welcome. Sit. Let’s eat.”

“Damn, woman, you’re quite the package,” Sean said after eating his last bite.

“I believe I’ve heard that before, but thank you. Now, guys, if you’ll excuse me, I would at least like to get some makeup on and dress before Mrs. Knight arrives. I believe you two can handle cleanup.”

“God, you’re a feisty dame.” Matt laughed.

“That she is,” replied Sean.

* * * *

After they were all cleaned up and dressed, Jena looked out the window and saw a red Corvette convertible enter the driveway.

A beautiful blonde, carrying several packages, stepped out of the car.

“Just look at her. She is absolutely stunning.” She turned to Matt and Sean. “Let me ask you guys something. Do you have to be beautiful or handsome to be a resident of this town?”

“No, of course not,” Matt answered. “But if it were a requirement, you’d have no trouble whatsoever.”

“We have all types like any other town—short, fat, tall, slim. But no matter what they look like, Destiny has the nicest, most caring people in the world,” Sean said, smiling.

“If only…” But I have to leave. There’s no way I can stay.

“If only what, darlin?” Matt asked.

She wasn’t ready to answer him. “Come on, guys, let’s go help your bosses’ fiancée.”

They walked out of the house.

“Hello,” Megan said. She was younger than Jena had thought she would be. They had to be almost the same age.

“Hey, Megan,” Sean said, scooping up the two packages she was carrying.
