“None taken. I totally understand. I’ve seen that look in my own two cowboys’ eyes.” Megan turned to her. “Time for you and me to go shopping, Jena.”

“Hold on,” Matt said. “We’re going, too.”

“I’m not sure you guys would enjoy the kind of shopping I’ve got planned today for Jena.”

“Doesn’t matter,” Sean said. “You remember what happened with you. Well, it looks like Kip is back.”

Megan nodded. “Yeah. Scott and Eric told me about what you saw at the warehouse in Odessa. My damn ex is such a bastard.”

Jena was shocked. That sweet woman had been married to a criminal? “Kip Lunceford is your ex-husband?”

“Let’s go shopping and I’ll tell you all about it at lunch.”

Jena wasn’t sure what she was going to do. Her current finances would only allow her to buy underwear.

Matt and Sean’s stares made her squirm.

“Honey, we’ve got this,” Matt said.

Sean nodded. “We’re the reason you didn’t have time to pack your clothes because we hit the road so fast.”

Somehow they’d seen it on her face that she was worried about money. God, keeping secrets from them might be impossible for her.

“Nonsense.” Megan put her hands on her hips. “This is on TBK’s tab. Eric and Scott are putting her on the payroll. Jena is getting a clothing allowance.”

“What? I don’t understand,” she said. I must leave in less than a week. “I’m only going to help these two get the code that I was uploading into TBK’s system removed. Hopefully, that will lead the authorities to get something on Mitrofanov and your ex.”

Megan came up and put her arm around her. “You’re getting a paycheck, Jena. That’s final. Shall I show you and these two bundles of testosterone the best shopping Destiny has to offer?”

“I suppose so,” she said with a grin. If the other citizens were anything like Megan, this was going to be quite the shopping trip.

Matt stood inside the boutique by the entrance. Megan had led them to the middle of West Street on the town square to Riley’s Body Decorations, a combination dress shop and ta

ttoo parlor.

Sean had gone to find Dylan, who had left a message that he had new information.

Jena was smiling from ear to ear. “What about this one?”

She wore a pale blue dress that emphasized her cute figure.

“You look wonderful, sweetheart.”

Every outfit she modeled for him looked great on her. What wouldn’t? Hell, a gunnysack would shine on her body. He actually liked her out of clothes more than in them, so he wasn’t sure why she kept asking his opinion. It would always be the same.

“I think you should try on that mini skirt,” Megan said. “I bet that would get a big reaction from him.”

“You might be right. We’ll be back shortly.”

“I’ll be waiting.”

As they trotted off, he grinned. The only things that had really caught his attention were a pair of knee-high leather boots she’d worn for him. He could imagine her wearing them and nothing else. Of course, the image of Jena most prominent in his thoughts was with her under him. Her long, beautiful legs covered in the boots would be slung around his waist.

Keep alert, Agent MacCabe. You’ve got a job to do.

He kept his hand on the butt of his gun, which was under his jacket. He didn’t expect Mitrofanov or Lunceford to show, but if either of them did—or their cohorts—he’d be ready.
