On his elbows in the bed, Matt gazed down at her, her lips slightly open, allowing warm breaths to escape.

God, she’s beautiful.

He should be tired, but he wasn’t. Not one damn bit. Making love to Jena with Sean had been like nothing he’d ever experienced. He and Sean had shared before, but what had happened last night changed everything. She was theirs. He had no doubt about it now.

His life had never been better. The reason? Jena. She’d brought light to Sean and him.

Jena had spunk and fire he enjoyed. And deep down, in the core of her being, was devotion so strong, so unshakable, it called to his heart. She loved her daughter and had sacrificed everything to make sure Kimmie remained safe. Her mother, too.

The little girl in the picture that Jena had shown them would be part of his and Sean’s lives. He’d never met Kimmie, but he would do anything for her. She was Jena’s. That was enough for him. Being a dad was something he’d never thought he would do given what kind of upbringing he’d gone through. But now, after meeting and falling in love with Jena, he wanted to be the best he could be for Kimmie.

The only family he’d ever been able to really count on had been Sean. That was, until finding Jena. Their lives had been reborn because of her.

He took a deep breath.

They would need to call Mr. Black to find out whatever was in the systems about Jena’s ex, Carl Braxton. Black was the best in the CIA. If there was any information out there, he would get it.

Sean stepped back into the bedroom. He held a tray with a coffee pot, three cups, cream, and sugar.

“She’s still asleep,” he said quietly, trying not to disturb her.

“I’m not surprised,” Sean said in a hushed tone, placing the coffee on the nightstand. “We had quite the time last night.”

“That we did.”

Sean filled two of the cups and handed one of them to him. “When I was making coffee, I called Black.”

“And?”

“He patched Dylan into the call,” Sean said. “Black is putting a team together to see what he can find out on Braxton.”

“With him on it, we’ll find the fucker. No one can hide forever.” He took a sip of coffee. “You and I both know that.”

“You know what?” Jena asked with a yawn.

“Don’t trouble your head over it, baby,” he told her. She had enough to worry about already.

She sat up and stared at him. “After all we talked about last night, don’t go clamming up on me now, Mr. Matt Dixon.”

“She’s got you on the ropes,” Sean teased.

“And you, Mr. Sean MacCabe. You’re just as bad as he is. I’m a big girl. Please don’t hold back from me. Secrets have been my life for the past few years. Very necessary, of course, but I’d like it to be different with you two.”

“It will be.” Matt leaned into her and captured her lips. “Actually, it is different already. For us, too, baby. We’ve never been in a serious relationship before.”

“Is that what this is?” She smiled. “A serious relationship?”

“You know it is, Jena.” Sean kissed her. “The truth is we’re working with an old friend in the Agency to find Carl Braxton.”

“Thank you.” She closed her eyes, and he could almost sense the weight she’d been carrying lessen a bit. God, he hoped so. “Do you think your friend will be successful?”

He loved how direct she could be. “Black is about the best there is. Besides, you have Dylan Strange and us on the case, too. We won’t rest until the son of a bitch is found. We’ve never failed any mission and we won’t fail this time. We won’t fail you.”

Her smile thrilled him.

“Would you like some coffee, sweetheart,” Sean asked her.

“Yes, please.” She took the fresh cup of coffee that Sean had just poured. “You even brought cream.”
