Jay got it off her nightstand.
She pulled the test out of her purse, holding it up like it might bite her. “I really am scared, guys.”
“Don’t be, sweetheart. Clay and I will be right there with you.”
The three of them went into the bathroom together.
A few minutes later, Izzy closed her eyes. “I just can’t look. I’m still scared.”
He peered at the little white stick, praying for a positive result. Izzy wanted children. She’d already proven what an amazing mother she would make with Gabby. He couldn’t imagine anything better happening if he and Jay got to have a child with her. They would be dads.
“Oh God, what does it say? I can’t stand it.” Her eyes remained shut.
“It says here two lines mean you’re pregnant.”
“That’s right. So?”
“I see two lines.” Happiness filled him completely.
Her eyes popped open and she held out her hand. “Let me see that. Oh my God. There are two lines. There really are two lines. I’m pregnant.”
He turned to Jay. “We’re going to be dads.”

Eight months later
Izzy held her healthy newborn twins in her arms. The two proud dads were standing by her bed, gazing at little Margaret and little Collin, named after their parents.
Gabby came into the room. “Can I hold my little brother and sister, Mom?”
“Of course, you can, honey.”
Jay handed Margaret to her. “She looks a lot like her big sister to me.”
“You think so?”
He smiled. “I do.”
Clay nodded. “And you look a lot like your beautiful mother, Gabby.”
“I am very happy about that. She’s gorgeous, you know.”
“We know,” he and Jay said in unison.
“I’ve got the best mom in the world.” Gabby looked down in Margaret’s eyes. “You, Collin, and I are very lucky, Sis.”
“I’m the lucky one,” Izzy said. “This is the happiest day in my life, surrounded by the ones I love.”
