Chapter Eight

Paul King sat in his motel room. He would make sure the bitch paid for what she’d done to him. On the bed were his shotgun, two rifles, and his pistol. With every lawman in the state looking for him, he would need help from someone he could trust.

Of course, his nephew was the first to come to his mind.

Paul had ditched his cell awhile back, knowing the authorities would be able to track him that way. So, he dialed the boy from the room’s phone.

No answer. Damn it!

He should’ve run the cunt through with the knife back at Norma’s when he’d had the chance. Rage rolled through him. Somehow, he had to get back to Wilde and fix his missteps with that bitch.

Paul picked up the pistol and aimed it at his forehead’s reflection in the mirror on the wall.

No matter what he had to do to make sure she was pushing up daisies in forty-eight hours or less, he’d fucking do it.

In his backyard, Austin flipped the steaks on the grill. The night was quiet, but he’d leaned his rifle against the wall, just in case some uninvited guest showed up.

Paul King was still out there.

Until the fucker was captured, Austin would have a weapon always at the ready. Hell, even after that. When it came to protecting Jessie, he would never take shortcuts.

Before drifting off to sleep, she’d ordered her steak well done. He couldn’t imagine how she could eat her meat that way. He liked his rare. That was just another example to him of the power of opposites attracting each other. It apparently even extended into dietary preferences.

As the sizzling of the sirloins quieted, Austin realized he was whistling. God, had he ever done that before? No. Having Jessie in his home had actually changed him. He felt happy.

He’d worked hard to get her to a state where she would give over all her power, but he believed he’d succeeded. She was ready.

Tonight, he would replace her training collar with a permanent one that signified she was his. At first, he knew she wouldn’t understand why he would not let her return to his brothers, but in time she would. He would be enough for her from now on. He’d withheld his dick from her pussy for the entire week, and though fucking her ass had been awesome, he couldn’t wait to feel her tight cunt wrapped around his cock. Once his collar was around her neck, he’d make love to her all night long.

An engine roared to life outside his gate.

“What the fuck!” He slammed the lid of the grill down and ran to his gate, grabbing the rifle. Cocking it, he sent a bullet into the chamber. Then he clicked the safety off. The motherfucker was a dead man.

When he opened the gate, headlights blinded him for a split second, and he almost sent a bullet through the windshield of the driver’s side of his truck. Thank God he hesitated. Not Paul King. Without clothes and wearing her training collar, Jessie was behind the wheel. She shook her head. Her eyes were blood red from crying. He jumped for the truck’s door, but she was too smart for him. She backed the truck up in a flash. Then she peeled out, spreading gravel in every direction.

He’d miscalculated her state. Anger filled him up. He had a pretty good idea who she’d go to. If he ran, he calculated he could make it there in just over two hours. But he needed one thing before he did.

Austin marched back through his front gate to his house to get Jessie’s new collar.

Watching Austin’s image grow smaller in the rearview, Jessie sobbed. She blinked fast to catch glimpses of the road. She hadn’t conspired to escape him, but when she’d decided to go looking for him and had seen Austin’s truck keys on the kitchen table…she didn’t think. She just went on autopilot.

No matter how many times she tried to reason why he’d never filled her pussy up with his dick, it always came out with the same result—he clearly didn’t want her. She couldn’t bear another second knowing that.

After she wiped her eyes, she tapped the steering wheel with her shaky fingers. “Where to now, dummy? With no clothes, obviously not to town.”

As much as she dreaded facing Denver, his place was the closest to Austin’s. It made the most sense. Saying good-bye to him would kill her, but somehow, she had to. No way would she come between these brothers.

Another round of tears fell until her eyes burned.

“I wish I could just say good-bye to them all at once.”

As she turned into Denver’s driveway, she realized her wish might come true since four trucks were parked side by side in front of his house. They’re all here.

She needed a second to gain her composure, but no such luck. In complete cowboy regalia, Jackson, Phoenix, Dallas, and Denver bolted from the front door and surrounded the truck. Two of them had guns drawn. With all Nevada quiet, they must’ve heard her driving up.
