“I’m in love with you, too,” I admit. No sentence has ever held more weight or more truth. Because I’m not just admitting to him how I feel, I’m also giving him a power that I can’t take back.

“Thank fuck.” He blows out a breath, his shoulders sagging forward as he pulls me into his lap.

The steering wheel bites into my lower back, but I don’t care.

Zayden’s fingers slide against my scalp, tangling in my hair as he tugs my face down to his.

“You’re mine, Rylee.” He kisses me slow and deep, like he’s relishing his first drink of cold water after spending days on a hot desert. He kisses me until there’s nowhere I can’t feel him. Until there’s no part of my body that isn’t affected. “Say it. Say that you’re mine.”

I’ve never been happier to oblige.

“I’m yours.” I smile against his lips. “I’ll always be yours.”

“I fucking love you.” He slides his tongue against mine.

“I fucking love you, too.” I giggle when he pulls back and hits me with an amused look. “What?” I cock my head to the side, draping my arms around his neck.

“I love that word even more when you say it.”

“What word?” I nibble on my bottom lip. The way he’s looking at me makes me feel all kinds of ways.

“Fuck.” His eyes go dark as his hands slide around my back.

“Fuck. Fuck. Fuck,” I repeat, laughter rumbling through my words. I’ve never been one to use much profanity but being around Zayden has definitely loosened my tongue where that’s concerned.

“Keep talking like that and Friday will seem like a warmup for what I’ve got planned for you.”

I lean forward and press a kiss to his mouth before seductively whispering against his lips, “That’s what I’m counting on.”

ZAYDEN

THREE WEEKS LATER

I TUCK MY GIRL against my side as we walk out of the door. Normally I can’t wait for spring and the warmer weather, but I have to admit, I’m liking the cold more and more. It gives me a damn good excuse to have Rylee snuggled up to me. Not that I need an excuse. I’ve never been the affectionate type, with the exception of Danielle, but I’m realizing it was because I hadn’t found the right girl to be affectionate with. If Rylee is near, I have to be touching her in some way. Thank fuck, she’s totally down with my clingy ass.

Three weeks ago, I damn near lost her. While the thought still incites my anger, I refuse to let the greediness and mistakes of others dampen mine and Rylee’s relationship.

“Hey, Z!” someone calls my name. “You and Rylee coming to the game tonight?”

“We’ll see,” I answer back.

Opening my truck door, I toss both of our books behind the seat

. After, I get in Rylee’s space until she bumps into the back fender with nowhere else to go. I curl my fingers around the bed of the truck over her shoulder. “What are our plans for tonight, baby?”

She tips her head back to look up at me. “Hmm… I was thinking we could watch New Moon.”

I wrack my brain, trying to think of what movie she’s talking about, but come up with nothing.

“I don’t remember that one. What’s it about?”

Her eyes take on a mischievous sparkle and she grins. “It’s the second movie in The Twilight Saga.”

“Lee!” I yell, still holding her eyes. “What time does the game start? Looks like I’m going solo.”

Rylee giggles and slams my stomach with the back of her hand. “I’m just kidding.” She leans up and presses a kiss to my lips, her delicious flavor enticing me to further the intimate contact. “Actually, Paul and Mom are going away for the weekend. Savannah was supposed to come visit Saturday and spend the night, but she came down with the flu. I heard Oliver tell his dad he’ll be gone for the weekend, too.” Her eyes take on a sensual look. “Looks like I’ll have the house all to myself. I’ll be alone all weekend.”

She pouts playfully, and it makes me want to lick the look off her face.
