“I better look at putting in some posts for football. I do not want to lose dad of the year. What do you say, Reese? You want a little brother to play with?” Damian stood and went toward their kids.
He had legally adopted Reese as his own. Mia had also adopted Martha, and they were a family.
She didn’t have much time to bask in her family happiness as the doorbell rang. Damian was already heading toward it, and she cleaned up the mess she had made. Within minutes Lou and Jacob were there with their kids. One by one the Denton family arrived, bringing with them some food or sweet treats. Rick was there as well. He’d flown in with Mandy, and as a surprise, Sarah. From what Damian had told her, things were a little tense between Sarah and Landon. Damian wouldn’t go into it, but she believed that was because he didn’t know the whole truth.
Gabriel arrived with his family, and Gideon came in after them. Within half an hour the entire house was filled with noise, laughter, and family.
Charlotte and Harper had already taken Martha and Reese outside. Mia stood at the door, holding the chicken and steaks.
Damian came toward her, taking the bowls. “You look happy, Mrs. Denton.”
“I am happy. Completely happy.” She took the jam tarts out of the oven, and made her way into the garden to be with her family, and the man she loved, basking in the joy that her wish had finally come true.
