She never told me what Gwen’s words were, and I never asked. I didn’t want to push her, and her silence made it obvious that she wasn’t ready to share it. But whatever the redheaded witch told her, it’s clearly stuck with her.

And now she’s leaving.

I lean in and wrap my arms around her, enfolding her in a bear hug. I used to be a lot more timid about expressing my emotions, but not anymore—if someone wanted to interrupt our hug right now, they’d have to pry me away from her with a crowbar. She hugs me back, and I listen to her soft breathing, feel the pounding of her heart against my chest with my shifter senses.

Finally, I release her and slide my hands down to grab her hands. “I’m gonna miss the hell out of you. But I support you in whatever you do, and I hope you find what you’re looking for.”

Amora’s eyes glitter with unshed tears, and it’s so out of character that I can barely handle it.

“I’ll miss you too, Sable. But I know we’ll see each other again.” She grins through her tears, jerking her head in the direction of my mates. “Take care of those assholes, all right? You’re good for them. You’re good for each other.”

“I will,” I promise. “Always.”

With one more squeeze of my hands, she splits off and disappears through the crowd, leaving me with my own tears burning tracks down my face.

Ridge’s crisp pine scent surrounds me as he steps up beside me. “Did she tell you?”

I nod. “And you?”

“Yeah. She told me before the meeting.” His voice catches on the last word.

I lean into him and hug his waist tightly. I can only imagine it’s like watching your sister walk away and not knowing when she’ll be back. Or if she’ll come back at all.

We finish our goodbyes as the other shifters make their way out, and then my men surround me as we leave the meeting house to go home. Trystan throws an arm around my shoulders, clearly sensing that my mood needs lightening.

He presses a kiss to my cheek, then nips my ear in the way he knows makes my clit throb no matter when or where he does it. “What do you think, sweetheart?” he asks. “Steak for dinner tonight?”

A smile curves my lips in spite of my lingering sadness. “Yeah. That sounds amazing.”

Dare’s hand closes around mine, warm and calloused and comforting. He brings our joined hands to his lips and kisses my knuckles, the gold specks in his eyes dancing as he glances at me. “Anything for you, moonlight.”

Archer and Ridge frame us on either side, and I draw in a deep breath as the men start debating who’ll be on grill duty and who makes the best steaks. Personally, I think they’re all amazing cooks, but I don’t say anything, enjoying their playful, teasing banter.

Amora may still be searching for something, but I’ve found everything I’ll ever need.

It’s all right here, with my family. Leading this pack with my men.

Wondering what Gwen whispered to Amora? Check out the cover and blurb for Rejected Mate, the first book in the Feral Shifters series!

My mates have the power to destroy the world.

Three years ago, a darkly handsome stranger stole my heart. After one night together, I was certain I’d found my fated mate—until he rejected me and disappeared like a shadow.

I never told anyone about that night. Not even my best friend. So when a witch whispers a dire warning in my ear, her words chill me to the bone.

I don’t just have one mate. I have three.

Feral shifters, she calls them.

Wild, untamed, and fueled by darkness, created by a magic no one has ever seen before.

Together, they could tear apart the world as we know it.

Unless I hunt them down and stop them first.
