“Oh really?” I ask, putting my hands on my hips and cocking my head back in complete shock.

“Yeah, because of all the rules the one that stands above them all is the one Sawyer understands best, and that’s what’s most important.”

I knit my brows, thinking which of the rules Silas is referring to.

“It’s not on any list, it’s here,” he says, placing his hand over my chest. “Family first. Always.”

“Come on, family. The movie’s about to start!” Sawyer says.

I melt into my husband's arms and he kisses the top of my head. “Go!” he says, and I take off for the kitchen, quickly cutting pieces of cake and putting them on plates while he goes and gets Sofia and wheels her crib into the living room.

We arrive at the same time, diving onto the couch as I hand over pieces of cake to my boy and my man, my Daddy, my everything.

“How did you balance all three pieces?” Silas asks.

“I just followed the rule. Family first, and I made sure my men were taken care of.”

“Family first,” Silas says, his big arms pulling us all in for a hug, before he stands up and moves over to Sofia’s crib, bringing her with him to the couch and sitting her on his lap before hugging us all this time. “Family first, because that’s the unwritten rule of the world, and one I’ll always follow it to a T.”

“I love you, Daddy,” I say, the boys too wrapped up in the movie to notice how I address my man.

“I love you too, princess.”

THE END
