“Maybe she doesn’t have a family like we do.”
“I hope she finds her own Daddy one day, even though that would mean she’d probably slow down on her writing. I just love her books.”
“Strangely, even I can tolerate them. They’re not that bad, and I’m someone who never read anything after high school. As a matter of fact I never even read those books in high school. Thank God for Cliff’s Notes.”
“But you like reading my books, don’t you?”
“I love it because they give me a look inside your head, inside your fantasies.”
“Mom. What’s a f-fantasy,” Liam asks.
I gulp and look at Logan.
“Wanna watch a Disney movie? Those are fantasies.”
“Yay! Disney!” he says, wiggling and I put him down and he takes off running for his iPad.
“Mom, are you watching a Disney movie?” Leah asks.
“I wanna watch!” Lillian calls out from somewhere in the house.
“Me too,” Lucas adds.
Luna, our cat, even meows.
“I guess it’s unanimous then,” Logan says. “Where mom goes the whole family goes.”
“My writing career wouldn’t be going anywhere without all the time you put into watching the kids while I write.”
“Are you kidding me?” Logan says. “Apart from time spent with you, it’s my favorite part of the day.”
“Awww,” I reply, wrapping him up in a hug as best I can, never even close to being able to get my arms around him. “You still love me?”
“What? What are you talking about? Wait,” he says, lifting me into the air as if the extra weight I’ve put on over the years isn’t even there. “You’re talking crazy so you must be pregnant again.”
His eyes grow wide with anticipation and excitement.
“I did miss my last period,” I finally confess.
He sets my feet back down on the ground, tips his head back, and pumps his fists. “Yes! Thank you!”
“I need to get tested before we celebrate.”
“Every day with you in our lives is a cause for celebration.”
“Even though I’m not…” I pause running my hands downward a few inches from my body, “not built like I used to be.”
“Woman, get outta here with that talk. You know how much that amazing body of yours turns me on. And the fact that your body has been a vessel for all our children, the crazy creatures we love more than life itself…little girl it just turns me on even that much more and makes Daddy want to do naughty things to you.”
“Really?” I ask just before his lips claim mine hard.
All my worry and the self-doubt I’m feeling wash away as he scoops me back up in his arms and possessively carries me toward the living room where our family will watch a movie together.
This is truly what life’s all about. Right now I get to be a little girl, just like my kids as we watch a Disney movie and eat popcorn. And the best part is I have my Daddy, our Daddy, right here with us to provide a safe and fun environment. To be fun when the time calls for it and deliver punishment when we get out of line.
But at the end of the day, all our Daddy really wants is the best for us, and that’s why he’s the best Daddy in the whole wide world.
And he’s mine…mine all mine. Forever.
