I could even picture them on their holiday time Hallmark cards. Shifting in his lap, I noticed the clock.

“Levi! It’s two am, you need to rest, you have court in a few hours!”

“Okay,” he said as he lifted me up into his arms, and began walking towards the stairs.

“What are you doing?”

“The only way I’m going to rest, is if you’re in my arms tonight,” he said.

He was able to turn off the lights before taking me up.

“The food…”

“We’ll deal with it in the morning,” he said as he dropped me on the center of his bed.

“No sex. If you’re off your game tomorrow, I won’t forgive myself.”

He sighed, and I could tell he was tired.

Sitting up, I ran my hands over his jaw. “I’m not going anywhere, and think of it this way; you get a prize after kicking ass tomorrow.”

He turned and kissed my palm. “If I can’t have you tonight, at least take off your shirt so I can feel you against me.”

With the look in his eyes, how could I say no?

Pulling off the shirt, I turned so he could unclasp my bra. When he did, his hands travelled down my spine as he kissed parts of back.

“Levi,” I gasped, when he grabbed my breast.

“I’ve missed you,” he said, as he kissed my spine one last time.

Getting up, he went into the bathroom, and a few seconds later I heard the shower turn on.

“Oh God,” I moaned, letting out the breath I was holding back into his pillows. Turning on my side, I breathed in the scent of them. It smelt like him.

What the—?

On his bedside table, there was a copy of The Great Gatsby. Sitting up, I reached for it. He had underlined my favorite quote, as if he already knew what it was.

Hearing the shower turn off, I put book back down, crawled under the sheets, and pretended to be asleep. I could hearing him walking around the room for a moment, before I heard the click of the light switch and felt the mattress shift. His arms wrapped around me, pulling me closer to him. He was naked, and he was cold, but I didn’t say anything. I simply pressed my body against him, allowing my breasts and hands to rest against his bare chest, as my legs entwined with his.

I had never felt more comfortable in all my life.

In the back of my mind, I kept thinking of that Gatsby quote; “You see, I usually find myself among strangers because I drift here and there trying to forget the sad things that happened to me.”

But I wasn’t drifting anymore. Because of Levi, I had found a place to rest.

“I’ve missed you too,” I whispered into the darkness.

CHAPTER NINETEEN

THEA

Thea,

I know you wanted me to wake you up, but you looked so peaceful that I just I couldn’t. You’re technically on break, enjoy it. I’ll be back soon to collect my prize. Until then, my place is your place. Breakfast is in the microwave.

Yours,
