Page 76 of Saving Savannah

“Listen,” I said, mustering my most serious voice. “Before we go, the three of us wanted to say something to you.”

Savannah stiffened, her smile fading just the tiniest bit. It was adorably cute.

“O—Okay.”

“It’s nothing bad,” Zane said reassuringly. “In fact, it’s good.”

“Good?” She breathed a sigh of relief. “I like good.”

“It could even be great,” said Roman. “Depending on how you answer. Because if we’re being honest here, the three of us have been discussing you. A lot.”

“A lot?” Savannah asked.

“A whole lot,” I nodded.

Without realizing it, we’d sort of surrounded her. It was something we did often, whether we knew it or not. Gathered in a sort of triangle, with her in the middle.

“Okayyy…”

“Savannah,” I began, “we’re not exactly sure how you feel about this, so I’m just going to spit it out.”

The uncertainty was back full force. Her eyes dropped.

“We want you to be our girlfriend.”

Her expression didn’t change for a very long moment. When it finally did, she was blinking up at us in surprise.

“You… do?”

“Yes,” said Zane. “And we want to be your boyfriends.” He pulled up one of his shoulders in a half-shrug. “If that’s okay with you, of course.”

Savannah was still standing three, still smiling. Almost like we were putting her on.

“There’s three of you, though,” she laughed nervously. “I’m outnumbered.”

“And outgunned,” smirked Roman, lightly brushing his crotch.

“But there’s three of you,” she said again. “And one of me.”

“So?”

“So?” she repeated. “So that’s not fair.”

Roman reached out gently and took her hand. I already had the other.

“Has it been a problem for you so far?” he asked.

“For me? No, of course not,” Savannah said awkwardly. “I just mean… it’s not fair to you.”

“Why not?” asked Zane.

“Because I can’t satisfy all of you!” she exclaimed.

Roman laughed. “I dunno about that one. From what we’ve seen so far—”

“You know what I mean,” Savannah jumped in. “I’m talking about girlfriend needs. Being there for you. A dedicated—”

“And you’re not there for us now?” I asked. “You’re not dedicated?”
