“Mia, I know you didn’t. I’m not mad about that. C’mon. I’m not staying here,” I told her.

The second I said it, the door to the dance studio opened, and Trinity walked out. She looked from Mia to me, and then she released a sigh. I saw her eyes land on my stomach, as she was probably trying to see if I was pregnant or not. She opened her mouth to say something, but I put my hand up to silence her.

“Don’t! You don’t owe me shit. You never did,” I said.

She nodded like she got it, but I saw it in her eyes that she still wanted to say her peace.

“Twinkle, I can’t just say nothing. The woman in me just won’t allow me to not say anything. You know a nigga will say anything to get some pussy. Any time that I’ve ever slept with Monterius, I swear on my child that he told me that you and him had broken up. I’ll look you in your eyes right now and tell you that I’ve never fucked him while the two of you were together. Hell, I wouldn’t even be able to get in contact with him when y’all were together. As a woman, I know that it was stupid on my part, a

nd that’s what I’m apologizing for because I would never want something like that to happen to me. I’m sure you’ve known about me for a while, but you and I never had a conversation like that before. You don’t have to leave. You already paid for the class. I won’t even bring the situation up after this,” she told me, and I shook my head.

“At one point in time, I was losing sleep over this shit. I prayed to God that your baby didn’t belong to Monterius because that would eat me up too bad, especially since you and I were pregnant at the same time, but I ended up losing my baby. Everything happens for a reason, though. You have a beautiful business and an even more beautiful daughter, but I don’t think that I will ever be cool with someone who was a key player in a situation that once caused me a lot of hurt. Take care,” I told said, and then Mia and I walked off.

If I had stood out there and tried to fight this woman, then it would look like I cared, when I swear I didn’t. I don’t know how many ways I had to say this, but I was good off Monterius. He wouldn’t even be a fool to work shit out with Trinity because that bitch was pretty. As for me, I had the finest nigga out, and I wanted no one but him.

“That’s what you get for picking shit and not doing your research. You can’t refer me to do shit else with you,” I said to Mia once we got in her car.

She laughed as she started it and pulled out of the parking spot.

“Out of all the bitches in the world who could have owned this studio, it had to be her. That’s crazy. You know I didn’t purposely do this, though. At least the two of you were mature about the situation because I was praying that your pregnant ass didn’t start fighting that woman,” Mia said.

“Fighting would prove that I cared when I don’t. Let’s just go to a restaurant and eat, since you done sent me on this dummy mission,” I told her, and she laughed again.

The next day

“Normani, bruh, sit yo’ ass down! You doing too much. You ain’t even supposed to be reaching over yo’ head like that anyway.” My annoying ass cousin’s deep voice beamed through the damn intercom that he and Normani had installed in their house.

Normani and I were in her walk-in closet, and she was showing me different clothes, shoes, and new purses she had. They had cameras installed in just about every room of the house, so Billion had to have been in the mancave with Truth and a few of the other niggas he invited to this BBQ, and he had nothing else better to do than spy on his wife. I was sitting on top of the massive marble island in the closet, looking at the stuff that Normani was showing me, and I laughed at Billion’s voice coming through the intercom.

Normani stopped in her place, and she let out a small laugh too, knowing this nigga would embarrass her if she kept it up. Normani was so pretty pregnant. She had the perfect sized baby bump that easily showed in the cute, red, cotton spaghetti-strapped dress she was wearing around the house.

“Baby, I’m just showing Twinkle my stuff. That’s not doing too much!” she said, pressing the intercom button in the closet as she talked back to her husband.

“You is! I been watching you for the last five fuckin’ minutes. You going to fuck around and try to pull something down, and all that shit gon’ fall on you. Normani, please just vibe. Chill out. I’ll be up there in five minutes to take down whatever you trying to show Twinkle. In the meantime, though, sit yo’ ass down,” he spat.

Normani didn’t even bother to respond. Instead, she just waved his ass off.

“This is why I didn’t want him putting up cameras in the rooms. It’s just a way for him to stalk what the hell I’m doing. Look at these, though. I gotta find a cute outfit to wear with these,” Normani said and passed me a bad ass pair of white and black Chanel boots.

We had been doing this for the past twenty minutes because we both loved fashion. Normani was a sucker when it came to purses, and even I was in awe of the beautiful custom closet she had. All her nice purses were in glass cases, so her closet looked more like a showroom than it did a closet.

“These are fire. You gotta wear some bad ass distressed black jeans with them and a simple black top. I would do these for a dinner look,” I told her as I handed her back the shoe box.

Normani showed me more stuff, and while I looked at it, she spotted something on her phone and laughed. She texted back, and then she came back over to where I was.

“That’s what I meant to ask you. Do you know somebody named Askiya? Her husband is Huncho. I met her a week ago at the office. She brought her kids for a check-up,” Normani said.

“I don’t know her, but I know who she is. She has that photography business. She’s really good too. I tried to book a birthday photoshoot for Dream months back, and that girl was booked for the month already, plus the following, so I had to go to somebody else. Her husband owns the gas stations, White’s. I used to go there all the time to get food. You know about White’s. I took you there with me before to get food. That’s who you texting?” I asked.

“Yeah. She’s cool. We’re supposed to hang tomorrow morning and go to brunch. You should come with us,” Normani told me.

“That’s cute, but I can’t. Truth and I are having brunch with his teammates and their wives. I move to another state, and you replacing me already,” I said with a fake pout on my face.

Normani playfully laughed and then popped me on my exposed thigh.

“Says the person who moved and got a whole new best friend. How did your pole dancing class go yesterday anyway? I forgot to ask you about that,” she said.

“Girl! Don’t even remind me! We went to Trinity’s studio,” I told her and sucked my teeth.
