She stared into my eyes, searching them. "But what about Mars?"

I laughed and kissed the end of her nose affectionately. "Mars doesn't hold a candle to you and to Tahiti."

"It doesn’t?" she replied, a slow smile spreading on her lips. "How so?"

"Well, for one, there's no air."

I grinned and bent down, kissing her mouth. When I pulled back, I saw tears in her eyes.

"And for another, and more importantly, there's no you."

At that, she wrapped her arms around my neck, pulling me down for another kiss.

Above us hung the Southern Cross, below us, the South Pacific, and between us, there was nothing and there was everything.
