I shook my head, and signed the waiver. "I want to get my run in now and don't want to wait an hour for someone to come out here."

"If you want to run on a regular basis, we can make sure to have someone come out at a specific time. You want someone on the property at all times, so I can't come with you."

"I know," I said and waved at him. "I understand. I'll make the arrangements today."

He nodded and I took off, running down the sidewalk towards the beach. It was deserted that early in the morning when the sun had barely risen, and so I had the whole stretch to myself, other than a few seagulls and the wind.

After my run, I came back to the beach house and found that Alexa was still asleep, so I made some coffee and read the Saturday paper, waiting to cool off before I had my shower. Once I was finished my first cup of coffee, I went to a guest room and showered there instead of our bathroom, so I didn't disturb Alexa.

I thought of her as I sudsed up, lying in bed, her body, her pretty face and soft lips.

Of course, the run I'd just finished did nothing to dampen my desire for her and before I knew it, I was leaning against the shower stall wall, my erection firmly in hand and was fantasizing about fucking her when she was eight months pregnant, her body so ripe, her breasts larger and heavy...

So much for self-control...

Chapter Seven

Alexa

I woke up sporadically throughout the day, the room in near total darkness, the heavy drapes pulled across the windows to keep out the sunlight.

Luckily, the anti-nausea meds my gynecologist had given me really seemed to work to keep me from dry heaving, but I still felt nauseated, and I was still so tired, I couldn't even sit up in bed to eat. I ate my crackers and peppermint tea lying down, crunching the saltines carefully and slowly, to make sure I didn't get too much too quickly. The peppermint tea with honey gave me some brain power so my mind could function at a basic level, but not so that I could accomplish much. Not much more than watching the news on the flatscreen on the wall across from the bed, listening to local news and flipping through shows to find something to pass the time.

People were scheduled to arrive around four thirty for Luke's birthday party. I wanted to be up by then, but it would all depend on how I felt. I sent everyone a group email saying that they might have to entertain Luke for me until I was able to get up and join them, and I got back several messages from friends and family assuring me not to worry.

They would look after the birthday boy until I was able.

I felt somewhat better as a result and tried to relax.

Luke popped into the bedroom around two in the afternoon to see how I was. I was sleeping, the flatscreen showing a mossy forest from somewhere in deepest Ireland.

He was in the closet looking for clothes for the party, and I woke up and tried to sit up in bed.

"Hey," I said.

He turned and looked at me. "Did I wake you?"

"No," I said and yawned. "I was just thinking about stuff."

"Oh, oh," he said and held out a shirt. "That's not good. Don't think about stuff. Think happy thoughts."

He put the shirt back in the closet and pulled out another.

"I was just thinking about how I'd cope if this morning sickness stays my entire pregnancy, like Dana."

"It won't," he said firmly. "She was an outlier. There's no way that two women in my life will have extreme morning sickness like that. Yours will end in a few weeks. You wait and see. And then, once it's fully over, we'll go to Bora Bora and make love under the stars on the deck of The Phoenix."

"I hope you're right," I said. "The way I feel right now, that seems impossible."

He slipped on the shirt and began to button it up while he walked over to the side of the bed. He bent down and kissed me, his eyes serious under a frown.

"It will get better," he said. "I command it to get better. Three weeks, four weeks tops and then, you'll be all better."

He kissed me again and I couldn't help but smile at his lordly manner.

"If you say so," I replied, fighting my grin.

"I say so."
