“Hopefully, we hear something positive tomorrow,” Shane said quietly from the dark.

Bobbi nodded and whispered, “Yes.”

“It’s a tough road ahead, but if she sees what she has to lose, maybe it will be enough to help her navigate it.”

Bobbi looked up at him. Shadows hid the planes of his face, and what little bit of light that fell from the stars caressed his chest and arms. He was so big and handsome and... She sat up a little straighter. She didn’t want to talk about Gabby, not now, in this moment. She wanted to feel alive, not sad.

She wanted her husband.

“I’m hoping to take Mackie for a spin on the motorbike soon.”

“Are you?” she asked, getting to her feet.

“Yeah. I’m going to—”

“I don’t care.”

“What was that?”

Bobbi pulled on the screen door. “I don’t want to talk, Shane. Not tonight.” She glanced over her shoulder. “Are you coming?”

Bobbi didn’t stop until she reached the door to her room, and then, like a teenaged nervous wreck, she fumbled with her key, her fingers nothing but knuckles.

“Shit,” she muttered, trying again.

“Need some help?”

“No.” God, this place needed an update to something more modern, like a key card. She tried to shove the key in again and swore when it wouldn’t turn. Then froze when Shane’s big hand covered hers.

“Let me.” His breath was warm on her neck, and that scent that was all him filled her head with erotic images and thoughts. Her body trembled, and she hot. It literally felt like she was on fire. Her nipples reacted painfully, yet it felt so damn good, like her skin didn’t quite fit, and every time she moved, the sweetest friction ever slid over her breasts, moved down her stomach to settle between her legs.

All that from one hand on hers.

Slowly, she let go of the key and leaned back against Shane as he moved in behind her, his long hard body pressed up against her. She felt his erection through his jeans and whimpered softly when he turned the key and pushed open her door. For a few seconds, neither one of them moved, and Bobbi could have stayed like that for hours, drinking in his smell and warmth and feel.

He filled all those empty holes inside her, and for the first time in months, she felt complete.

“You feel like home,” she whispered hoarsely.

His lips landed on her skin, and she closed her eyes as Shane slowly trailed a line of fire from the crook of her neck and shoulder and up along her jaw until she couldn’t stand it anymore and turned in his embrace.

Hungry mouths, searching hands, and a need so basic, it transcended all the bullshit of the last three months took over. She wanted to crawl inside him, taste every inch of his body, and it was like a fever in her blood.

Bobbi groaned and would have fallen if not for those strong, searching hands. And oh, the kissing. Shane had always been the guy who took his time and used his mouth with an expertise that made a girl fall apart. It was his secret weapon, and he kissed her until her head spun and she felt light, as if she could dance on the ceiling.

Shane scooped her up and strode over to the bed, where he gently placed her down, his dark gaze moving over her in a way that screamed possession.

“You keep looking at me like that, Shane Gallagher, and I swear you’re going to set my cloth

es on fire.”

“Well, that’s good, darlin’,” he said with a growl, “because you don’t need them.” He reached down and pulled off her shoes, then worked his way up underneath her skirt, where he palmed and massaged and applied just enough pressure between her legs to pull that ache from deep within until it flooded her body with another wave of heat and a desperate need to connect.

“Shane,” she whispered, thrashing her head as she gripped the covers with her fists. “That feels so good.”

He didn’t bother with the gentle removal of her dress. Nope. There wasn’t time for that. He grabbed the bottom hemline and, with one hard pull, ripped the dress all the way up to the neckline. Her panties came next. He didn’t bother with her bra because Shane was focused on something else.

He dropped to his knees and pulled her close to the edge of the bed. He didn’t have to spread her legs. They were wide open, offering up that most intimate part of her to him. Her husband.
