“Meh, I’ve gone on less sleep.”

“That we have,” I agree.

“What’s your schedule tomorrow?”

“Another home game, and another the day after that.”

“Damn, girl, I’m exhausted just hearing about your schedule.”

“Yeah, it’s great, right?” I smile at her.

“Only you would say that.” She stands from the couch and offers me her hand, pulling me to my feet. “Where’s your man tonight?” she asks as we shut off the lights and head to our rooms.

“His mom is staying with him. He tried to get me to stay, but I shut him down.”

“Good. Keep him on his toes.”

“That’s going to be a hell of a lot harder than it sounds.”

“You’ve got this, P.”

“Thanks, Wil.” I give her a hug and then head to my room. I plug my phone in to charge and notice a message.

Cameron: I miss you already.

Me: It’s been fifteen minutes. Max.

Cameron: That’s too long.

Me: Are you the clingy boyfriend type? Maybe I should rethink this?

Cameron: Paisley.

Me: Cameron.

Cameron: Don’t mess with me.

Me: Good night, Cameron.

Cameron: Good night, beautiful.

My smile is wide as I change and settle into bed. He’s definitely going to keep me on my toes. It’s thrilling. I never really know where I stand with guys who ask me out. But I know with Cameron, which is comforting, allowing me to let my guard down. I’m excited to see where this goes.

Chapter 12

Cameron

We’re on the road for a three-day stretch in Pennsylvania, and we’re two for two. We’re definitely kicking ass and taking names. But that’s all I’m going to say about that because I don’t want to jinx us.

The bus pulls up to our hotel, and all I want to do is order room service, curl up with Paisley, and get some sleep. I’m exhausted. This schedule is grueling. Not that I’m complaining. This is everything I’ve ever dreamed of. It’s still hard for me to believe that this is my life—playing for the Tennessee Blaze, and my game is tight if I do say so myself.

Then there’s Paisley. She’s an unexpected surprise in my life, one that I cherish, and I couldn’t imagine her not being a part of this dream I’m living. We’ve been going strong now for a couple of weeks. I finally got her to agree to put a label on us. I’m not an idiot. I know a good thing when I see it, and Paisley Monroe, she’s as good as it gets in my book. Of course, I’m locking this down.

Us.

Her.

Me.
