“We could have, and we should have,” he acknowledges. “But the truth would have gone something like this: you’re gorgeous baby girl, so let us ravish your curves right here, right now. Do you like anal, by the way? Because there are three of us and we plan on using all your holes. Obviously, we can’t go in so crudely, so for a bit more of a run-up, we formulated a story about a bet, and it’s not a bad one, to be honest. Sure, the details are somewhat vague, but it basically focuses on how gorgeous you are, and how much we all want you.”

Jessica shakes her head furiously, brown curls flying.

“I don’t believe you. You’ve been lying this entire time, and you tricked me!”

I sigh again, feeling defeated.

“It’s not a trick, honey. It’s more like a bad pick-up line, except more elaborate. I’m so sorry about all of this.”

She shakes her head.

“But there were so many details they got right,” Jessica chokes while staring at the floor, her eyes glassy. “They named names, and they said to ask around to verify.”

“Ginny and Mary used to be our secretaries,” I growl. “They know everything about us, and to be honest, those names probably are connected to real people. But it doesn’t mean that it’s true. It just means they’re jealous because we actually love you and want to be with you. We want you, honey, and not them.”

Jessica looks up.

“So you’re telling me that you didn’t sleep with either of them?”

“No, we didn’t say that and you know we didn’t,” Burke responds immediately. “We’re just saying that it didn’t work out with Mary and Ginny. They’re not our type and so we decided to move on, but the women got stuck in a rut of vengeful hatred. Somehow, they found each other and have embarked on this insane scheme to accost new women in coffee shops of all places. Because they can’t have us, they want to make sure that you don’t either.”

Sam’s plenty pissed now, and the darkness on his features shows it.

“These bitches are delusional. I have half a mind to sue their asses for this slander. What the hell? You can’t just go around telling lies.”

“Mary and Ginny are more clever than that,” I grunt. “They mixed lies with the truth, and so the whole shitbag came out sounding believable. Fuck this. We have to do something about it.”

But then, Jess glances up for a moment, her eyes narrowing.

“Do you order your condoms from China? Specially made?”

I step back and look at her, surprised.

“No, of course not. We just get the Magnums from the drugstore like everyone else. Well, maybe not for the smaller guys, but we get the regular brand. Here,” I say fumbling in my wallet before pulling out a foil square. “Why? Did something happen?”

Jessica’s cheeks go pink then.

“Mary and Ginny told me that you use fake condoms that are designed to break. That you try to get girls to do bareback by ordering defective condoms and then when they do break, you convince them that it’s no big deal.”

Vance shakes his head, his blue eyes filled with fury.

“That’s a fucking lie. The times our condoms split, they broke because we were going at it so hard! You’re luscious baby girl, and can take it better than most women. So yeah, the rubbers couldn’t hold up, that’s all.”

Jessica lets out a long trembling exhale, and her slim shoulders slump a bit.

“I knew it,” she says softly. “They had to be lying about that because we have had condoms tear,” she says before looking up at us. “But what the women didn’t know is that when they broke, we were using condoms that I bought. So you guys didn’t orchestrate anything nefarious at all. That’s when I suspected what they were saying was mostly lies.”

I rush to envelop her in my broad arms.

“So you know then,” I growl. “These women have their own agenda, and they’re trying to hurt you, and by extension us. Don’t listen to them.”

“They’re idiots and liars,” Sam growls, coming to wrap his arms around Jessica from the back. “They’ll do anything to destroy our happiness because they sense the truth: we love you, and you are everything we’ve ever wanted, not them.”

“We picked you,” Burke says before pressing a kiss to the curvy girl’s cheek. “And we’ll pick you again and again, no matter what happens.”

Jessica’s eyes are brimming with tears and she lets out a half-sob, half-cry.

“I love you too,” she says in a broken voice. “But it’s just so unreal, you know? And it caught me by surprise.”

I lean down to press a kiss to her temple.

“It would catch anyone by surprise,” I murmur. “Hell, they accosted you in public!”

Jessica lets out a small, choked sob before meeting our eyes again.
