She’s the one for me, and I’m the one for her. And if there’s one thing I know for certain, it’s that whatever happens, I want to be with her for the rest of my life. I want her to be mine until the end of time.

And so even as we fall into a routine, I start making plans. I’m going to ask her to marry me. I’m going to buy her the most beautiful ring in the world and put it on her finger. I want her to know just how special she is, how much she means to me. She’s going to be the most beautiful bride in the world, and I want her to feel that when I propose to her. I want her to see that even though she’s leaving a lot behind, she will gain a whole lot more in her new life with me.

There’s a lot to do. I have to make sure that this whole thing is perfect for her. I know I’m doing this early on in our relationship, but it feels so right, and I know she will feel the same way.

As she sleeps in this morning, exhausted by our first week together, I leave a note for her and head out to find the perfect ring. I know a jeweler that will definitely have the perfect ring. They cater to the rich and famous, and I’m willing to spend more than a small fortune on the right ring. I want only the best for August.

As I arrive, my eyes are drawn immediately to a cabinet on the left side of the store. The owner watches me carefully as I approach it, my heart thudding hard against my chest. Somehow, fate has brought me directly to this ring. I know it’s the right one immediately as my eyes fall on it.

It’s an incredible ring that has precious gems all around the center diamond. It’s simple but elegant and beautiful. I know in my heart that it’s the perfect one. I turn to the owner.

“I need this one,” I say sternly. “And I need it today.”

I don’t want to waste a single second of time. The proposal is happening tonight, no matter what. It feels right and I can’t ignore that fact. As I take the ring home with me, my bank account considerably shorter on cash, I feel elation and hope inside my chest. This is it. This is our moment.

When I get home, August welcomes me with afternoon sex in the lounge that only reminds me of how much I love her. I have no doubt in my mind about making her, my wife. Sure, I wish that it wasn’t in such a turbulent time in her life, but our love can’t wait. I don’t want to have to wait to start our life together for real.

And that’s why I put my plan into motion right away. I tell August that there’s a gift waiting for her upstairs and head into the kitchen to cook her favorite risotto. By the time it’s cooked and I’ve set the table with a bottle of expensive wine, August comes downstairs, wearing the outfit I laid out for her on our bed while she slept.

She looks so beautiful. Like a princess.

She smiles at me as she enters the room, the emerald colored dress she’s wearing flaring out behind her. The top of the dress clings to her delicious curves, making me want to take her right this second, but now isn’t the moment. After dinner, I’ll take her in my arms and satiate my throbbing need. Until then, I have other priorities in mind.

“Wow, did you cook for me?” she asks, staring at the plated food on the table. “It looks and smells incredible.”

“Just like you,” I growl, nibbling her neck teasingly to make her giggle.

“Oh, stop it.”

“But it’s true. You look incredible, August. Do you like the dress?”

“I love it, but isn’t it a little dressy for dinner at home?”

“It might be on any other night,” I murmur in her ear. She has no idea of what I’m about to do and that will only make this even better. “Sit down, baby. Let’s eat.”

All through dinner, I listen to August chatting about university and her course. I don’t try to steer her toward more romantic topics. I love to hear her thoughts on the world, and it helps keep her off my scent. I want her to be surprised when I get down on one knee.

When we’re done, August wipes her mouth with her napkin demurely and gives me the biggest smile in the world.

“This was so sweet of you to cook for me. It’s made me feel really special,” she admits with a shy smile. “You really didn’t have to, though.”

“I did. I told you I’d take care of you, didn’t I?” I say. “You deserve the world, baby. And I plan to give it to you.”
