My plan now was to work my way into the gorgeous man's life, and have him feel for me, the way I felt about him. After years of debate with myself, I had finally admitted—I needed this man more than air itself. I hoped I had it right and we could become more than just friends.

I strode beside him toward the house, every now and then glancing over my shoulder to admire the rise and fall of his arse. It was indeed one very fuckable arse as I'd suspected. He held the door open and waited.

"Come on in, I'll show you the room upstairs and then start on dinner. We can catch up on what you've been doing since you left town."

"Sounds good." Very fucking good.

I couldn't believe I have a room next to Kyle.

I followed him upstairs admiring the arse I was sure I'd soon become fixated on. In my mind I pictured being buried balls deep while fondling his cock. It brought a smile to my face. Thanks to my x-rated thoughts, I hadn't realized he'd stopped on the landing until I almost bowled into him. I reached out and flattened my hand on his chest as I stumbled. Our eyes collided and Kyle's normal gunmetal gray orbs darkened to almost black before he glanced down at my hand. I pulled back as if burned, my fingers tingled from the shock of our connection.

"Sorry." No, I'm not.

Kyle shook his head. "No, that's fine. This way."

He held his arm to the left and waited for me to step past him. When our shoulders brushed, all kinds of emotions were jolted to life. My recently neglected cock performed an Irish Jig behind the zipper of my jeans.

"First door on the left."

I turned the knob and stepped into a bedroom flooded with sunlight. A king-sized bed dressed with a pale blue duvet had pride of place in the center of the room. It was like a singing star on display, all it needed was a spotlight. And Kyle beneath me. To the left was a large wooden chest of drawers and matching wardrobe. On the right was a closed door. The room was beautifully decorated in shades of blue and white.

"That door leads to the bathroom." Kyle pointed to the closed door. "I'll make sure to free up some cupboard space."

"Thanks." I stepped across the floor to the large windows and gazed out over the property. The saltbush, scattered pine trees, and wildflowers were healthy and green. The grass grew thick and lush, and cattle milled about grazing. Off in the distance I sighted a hut nestled on the bank of a river.

"No-one lives in the hut?"

Kyle stepped up beside me and I inhaled his scent – leather, sweat, and a slight hint of sandalwood.

"No, it only has a bed, sink and fridge. I have no idea why it's even there. Dad said it was around when grandpa bought the place. It's good for the men in the bunkhouse, gives them a bit of privacy when they bring someone home. There's a sheet on the noticeboard in the bunkhouse, first in stakes their claim.”

I turned to face him. "Do you stake your claim very often?"

When he faced me, Kyle's eyes were piercing. "I have used it once or twice but not for a very long time. As I said, I don't have the time. Wendy has a private suite, so she's welcome to bring her dates back here, not that she ever has."

Hmm, were those he took to the hut, male or female? Would Kyle find time for me? Why the fuck was I feeling a rage of jealousy? I mean, I've been with other men, I hadn't exactly been celibate. I'd never been in, or wanted, a relationship though.

Until now……

CHAPTER TWO

KYLE

I watched Luke check out the room before I joined him at the window and peered out over the paddocks. Heat radiated off him, and I wanted to reach out and run my fingers over his skin. Instead, I asked, "what do you think?"

"I think I'll love it here, when can I move my things over?"

"You haven't even asked me what rent you’ll have to pay?"

"Don't care."

I shrugged, it was never my intention to charge him more than a token amount. "As soon as you like."

"Is it okay to crash here tonight and bring Sally and my stuff over tomorrow?"

"Sally?"

"My mare. She'll be fine out in a paddock if you have other plans for the stables that are free."

Fuck, not even one night to adjust to the idea of having him living under the same roof as me. Excited anticipation surged through me. "Yeah, that's fine. You're welcome to stable her."

We then discussed and agreed on a rent and the split on household bills.

"Who does the shopping?"

No way in this reality could I picture Luke pushing a shopping cart and buying groceries. He just didn’t seem like the domesticated type.
