?“And you getting your ten percent doesn’t hurt either, I’m sure,” I mentioned.

?“I think I will be able to catch up on a few things,” Jeff smirked as Sheryl put champagne flutes in front of us and popped the cork.

?I poured the three glasses as she took the four copies of the contract and quickly added her signature to them.

?We each picked up a glass.

?“To the newest writing team: Homes and Watkins!” Sheryl proclaimed.

?“What’s wrong with Watkins and Homes?” I taunted.

?“It flows better the other way,” Jeff corrected.

?We toasted and each took a sip.

?Jeff looked at me and then at Sheryl.

?“You guys look good,” he smiled. “No, I mean it, both of you look really good.” He thought about it for a minute and then added, “Happy.”

?“Thanks,” I told him and walked over to Sheryl to take her hand in mine.

?Jeff smiled. He downed the bubbly and set his glass down. “Okay, gotta go. I’ll have checks for you by the end of the week.”

?He put two copies in his briefcase, left one for each of us, and I escorted him to the door. He left as quickly as he had entered.

?I returned to Sheryl and refilled my glass.

?“You sure you’re okay with this?” Sheryl worried, with a glance at the contract Jeff left for her.

?I smiled. “I told you, I’m more than okay. I’m excited about doing it.”

?I gazed into her eyes.

?“Even though you’ve never collaborated before?” She twined her arms around my neck.

?“Well, I wrote the Sherlock Holmes books for Susie. I guess you’ll have to be the one I write new ones for.” I pressed her lips to mine.

?“And with,” she said and nuzzled my neck.

?We were still at the passionate stage of our relationship, and I could feel myself quickly become aroused as I kissed and touched her.

?“I would like to suggest a collaboration we could work on right now,” I said with a suggestive wink.

?“Do you think it will be a success?” Sheryl replied coyly.

?“If the past few weeks have been any indication, I believe we will both be pleased.”

?With the champagne flutes in our hands, we made our way to the bedroom to continue the interplay for our mutual benefit.

?In what I hoped would be a long partnership.

The End
