“Oh, do tell, Paige,” Dylan drawls, smacking Jaxon upside the head. “I could use some good blackmail material on him.”

“Don’t be an ass,” I reply to Dylan while I reach up and kiss Jax on the cheek. “I love you too,” I whisper. Pulling away, I ask, “Are you making enough eggs for me because I’m hungry now too?”

“Doesn’t Seth feed you?” Jax grumbles, tossing a loaf of bread at Dylan. “You wanna eat, then you can do the toast.”

“Seth feeds me well, I’ll have you know.” I sigh. “He’s got a meeting with his adviser and said it could last a while.”

I glance at Jax. “We okay?”

Dylan frowns looking between us both.

“More than okay.”

“I still want to know who Jaxon has his eye on.”

“I can’t remember,” I admit. “Although, if I heard her name then it might come back to me.”

“Do you want some eggs or not?” Jaxon glares.

Grinning, I reply, “Yes, I want eggs, so I promise to have permanent amnesia on the topic.”

“You better,” he grumbles, shoving a plate of eggs and buttered toast in front of me.

Dylan eats quietly, deep in thought before he lets out a loud sigh. “I can’t think of anyone. You always have your head buried in the books, or you’re on the ice.”

Jaxon smirks. “I know.” He turns to me. “Is Seth bringing you to practice tomorrow?”

“He is, and I remember the ice bunnies, so don’t worry. I’m prepared.” I eat more of my meal, wondering if I really am ready for them. The girls who hang around the ice rink can be vicious with their words when you throw a kink in their plans. Seth and my cousins have always been favorites with the girls, along with most of the team if I’m honest.

“Don’t worry about them.” Dylan cleans his plate off with the last of his toast. “We’ll be there too, so you’ll be fine.” He smirks. “In fact, we’ll make sure you are.”

I raise a brow and look between my cousins. “Why does that make me nervous?”

“I have no idea,” Dylan drawls moving to the sink, so I glare at Jaxon who grins.

“Oh, I forgot to tell you both,” Dylan adds, “Mom and Dad are going to be in town in a few days, so we’re all going out to dinner. Mom is desperate to spend time with Seth.” He shudders. “Do not take her on when she starts interrogating you about my life.”

“Why would she want to interr—oh!” I grin so wide that

I start laughing. “She wants all the details on your love life, huh?” I frown. “Well, I haven’t lived with you long enough to know anything about it, so I think you’re safe this time around. Next time though—” I let my words hang, adding, “I bet Jaxon and Seth know all about it.”

“Hey, there’s a man code in this apartment, and that applies to you now too, since you’re living here,” Dylan grouches. “There are consequences to breaking it too!” He snaps his fingers in front of my face, laughing.

“What am I missing,” Seth asks tossing his bag on the sofa while kicking the door closed.

I itch to throw myself into his arms, but instead I wait and smile when he dips his head to kiss me. “It’s nice coming home and having you here,” he admits.

Jaxon and Dylan start mimicking us making loud kissing noises, until Jaxon shoves Dylan away. “I prefer blondes.”

Laughing, Dylan kisses Seth on the cheek in a loud noise before backing toward his bedroom. “Oh and Jaxon, blonde, huh?”

Jaxon tosses a plastic beaker in response, which misses Dylan and slams into the bedroom door.

“Geez, children.” I chuckle.

I glance toward Jaxon and notice the frown currently on his face while he cleans up his mess in the kitchen. I don’t think I’ve ever seen my cousin so glum before. Whatever is bothering him is more than his usual teasing can cover up.

“Hey,” Seth whispers into my ear. “I think now is a good time to sneak into the bedroom.”
