My eyes alight with mirth when Dylan meets my gaze, his eyes narrowing as I open my mouth. I smile sweetly, letting him think I’m about to drop him in it with his mom, except, I say, “Last I heard, Madison is beyond happy.”

“She is,” Aunt Carla sighs. “I knew from the start that they were both attracted to each other, and I wondered how it would all work out.” She smiles and holds Sebastian’s hand tightly. “Derek’s age never bothered me because I could see that he was a good man, and all I wanted for my daughter was to find someone who would love her as much as Sebastian loves me.”

“You’re going to make me cry.” I dab at my eyes and have Seth kiss me on the cheek while dabbing my face with a napkin.

“You okay?” Seth smiles while Dylan makes a rude noise.

Uncle Sebastian raises a brow.

“Sorry,” Dylan mumbles. “All this talk about settling down and Madison is giving me the hives.”

Seth laughs. “I bet it is.” He carries on chuckling.

Knowing Uncle Sebastian, the twinkle in his eye means he’s going to ask another interesting question, I again change the subject. “How long are you in Boston for?”

Aunt Carla pats his arm with a smirk on her face. “You have a way with shutting your uncle up,” she comments. “Just a few days. I much prefer Boston for shopping than anywhere else, apart from home that is.”

“Any excuse to check on her baby boy,” Uncle Sebastian adds.

“I don’t need an excuse to visit Dylan.” She huffs. “Do I?” Glaring at Dylan she waits.

“Mom, you and Dad are well aware that I love to see you as often as you want.” He shakes his head. “You also know I’m serious.”

“You’re a good boy.”

Dylan grimaces at his mother’s words.

Seth snickers. “Oh yeah, he’s a real good boy.” He grins, and Dylan narrows his eyes at him. I smoother a laugh with a cough.

Aunt Carla laughs, enjoying putting Dylan on the spot, and adds, “You are aware that if you had a girlfriend I could meet then you’d be off the hook. I could concentrate on her for a change.”

“Mom,” Dylan groans. “I’m too young to settle down.”

“He’s enjoying playing the field too much,” I comment, and snicker. “It’s true,” I add when he shoots a glance my way. “Besides, how is he supposed to find the right girl for him if he doesn’t sample, um, others first?”

“I think you need to occupy your mouth with food, Paige,” Dylan states.

Aunt Carla winks.

“I often suggested that to Carla.” Uncle Sebastian wiggles his brows at his wife and my gaze snaps to Dylan who pauses mid-chew.

Dylan shudders. “Dad, I seriously don’t want to hear anything about you and Mom. It isn’t right. Parents don’t have sex.” In all seriousness, he continues with his meal.

I glance at Seth and snicker, my amusement stretching when I see the frown on Uncle Sebastian’s face. Aunt Carla offers him a smile and a wink. She concentrates on her meal and smiles. “Ignore the boys. Tell me how Rachel and Alexander are doing? And you saw Joshua, right? Lily worries about her boy.”

“My sister and Alex are well, and I’m happy to see them together.” I wince slightly. “I hate myself for how I was to begin with. I really do love them both.”

Aunt Carla reaches across the table and takes my hand. “They both know that you meant well, Paige. And that’s all in the past.” She smiles. “Joshua?”

I swallow back emotion, which causes Aunt Carla to pause. “Joshua looks well.” I smile. “He hugged me hard and struggled to let go. He’s busy from what he said.” I leave out that I thought Joshua had a lot on his mind.

“I knew he’d end up in law enforcement. Always had handcuffs in his pocket,” Uncle Sebastian says.

“I wonder if he still does.” Dylan smirks.

Rolling my eyes, I add, “Considering he’s a Fed, it’s guaranteed.”

“Stop spoiling my fun, Paige.” Dylan wags his finger in my face.
