My heart flutters in my chest when he sees me, and his face lights up. He moves closer and taking the coffee, he gives me an all too brief kiss on the cheek.

“I really need to leave,” he mumbles and leans in giving me another kiss.

“So do I.” Neither one of us makes a move to part, so I reach up and press my hands against the scruff on his face. “Will you come home with me this weekend? My mom and Kasey’s wife are having a joint baby shower.”

“The thought of meeting your family terrifies me, but I want to go wherever you are.”

“Then,” I wrap my arms around his neck, and he answers by wrapping his free arm around my waist, “I can’t wait to be able to spend the weekend with you. No hiding.” I smile.

“Mmm,” he nuzzles into me, and then groans, “College,” before he quickly claims my lips in one last kiss before he’s grabbing my hand and tugging me out of the house behind him. “You have everything?” he asks before locking the door.

“I have everything I want right in front of me.” I smile and reaching up onto tiptoes, I kiss him on the nose. “So yes, I have everything.”

The soft smile in his gaze is the only thing I need to know that my words have touched him deeply. He slips his hand through mine and intertwines our fingers. He holds on and won’t release me as we get to the bottom of his driveway. I look at him and the sadness that crosses his face has me rapidly blinking away tears.

“I don’t want to let you go,” he confesses, tugging me into his arms. “But the one thing that is going to keep me going is the knowledge that I’ll be with you in about eight hours.”

Groaning, I rest my forehead against this chest. “That’s eight hours too long.”

He chuckles, and says, “Go to class,” before he smacks me on the ass.

I break free and heading down the sidewalk, I shout over my shoulder, “I think we should try that without any clothes on.” Winking, I leave him standing in shock and probably aroused, watching my departing figure.

My smile slips as soon as I round the bend in the road and my steps slow.

At twenty-four and Sawyer thirty-two, we’re both consenting adults, which makes the fraternizing rules stupid. In truth, I want to think that they are but they’re not really. If we had nothing to do with each other while at the College then I can see the rules not really applying, but unfortunately they do apply to us. He’s my tutor, my boss...and the man I love.

Wiping yesterday’s ink off the white board, I yawn into my second coffee of the day while stretching out my aching muscles. Being with Andie has used ones that I haven’t used in a very long time, if ever. She’s amazing and I’ve never met anyone like her before.

With a secret smile on my lips, I turn to grab a marker from my desk and find Janice Long leaning against the doorjamb with her eyes focused in the vicinity of my ass.

I clear my throat when her gaze doesn’t move. “Can I help you with something?”

Her eyes finally snap to mine as I raise my brows, waiting. I know she’s interested in me, I mean, she has been obvious about it, but I wish she’d get the message that I’m not interested.

“I didn’t mean to interrupt as you get ready for class, but I was wondering if you like Italian food.” She blushes and looks nervous. “There’s a new restaurant opened and I thought it would be nice if we went. Together.” W

hen I stay silent, she nervously adds, “We both eat dinner right? So why not eat it together?”

I open my mouth to answer when she interrupts, “I know you’re probably going to say no, but I just thought instead of eating alone that it would make a change.”

Now I’m going to feel like a right jerk refusing her offer, and it’s a more hesitant offer than previously.

Be honest with her!

“Janice, you know that I’m going to say no, so please stop asking.” Why can’t this woman get a clue that I’m not interested?

As the words leave my mouth students start to trickle in, one being Andie, who looks between us both, a frown crossing her brow.

For now I ignore my girl, and move closer to Janice so that I’m not talking over students. “You see I’m not available. I have a girlfriend who I love very much.” I refuse to meet Andie’s gaze when I sense her listening. “I’m flattered with your interest, but I really would just like to be only colleagues.”

“Okay. I’m sorry.” She backs out the door while looking at the students behind me. “Oh,” she suddenly says before meeting my gaze, “I really do understand now.” I watch as she glances behind me once more before meeting my gaze. “I’ll go...for now.”

I frown wondering what the hell she’s on about, but shove it at the back of my mind so that I can focus on the class, which I’ll be starting in a couple of minutes.
