“Of course it is, don’t be silly. I did this a lot of times when we were kids. Even you came with us on a few occasions.”

Groaning, I climb onto the back of the sledge. There’s no way I’m letting her do this alone, even if she’s done it a million times. Taking a deep breath while Bree’s giggling in front of me, I push off with my gloved hands. I wrap my arms around Bree as we shoot down the hill at such speed I’m sure we’re going to die. While I’m panicking she’s laughing and screaming.

Coming to a stop we both end up lying in the snow, while Bree can’t stop laughing her head off. All I do is lie in the snow thanking god she’s safe. “You’re not doing that again, my heart can’t take it.”

Rolling on top of me, she leans down and kisses me, “I love you.” She whispers. My heart stops. Did she really say what I think she said?

Smiling at me, “I said I love you Gabe. You didn’t imagine hearing it.”

Pulling her down on top of me, I roll us in the snow so I’m on top of her, “I love you Bree, so much. You’re everything to me, and there’s nothing brotherly about it.”

She’s crying now, “Can we seal it with a kiss?”

“Oh babe, please don’t cry.” Leaning down, I kiss her softly all over her face then coming to her lips, I give her the softest of kisses. “Don’t ever forget that you have my heart Bree. You always have.”

“I won’t. You have my heart too.”

I have a huge grin on my face as I climb off the top of her, “I think we better make a move before we get hypothermia.” Pulling her up out of the snow, I help her brush the snow off. “Bree what are we going to do about your family?”

“I don’t know. I keep thinking that maybe Mom knows there’s something between us. What I really want to do is shout to the world that you love me and you’re mine. But, what if they don’t take it as well as we hope, that will be their Christmas ruined.”

“Then let’s wait until after Christmas to tell them.” Bree doesn’t look too happy with this, “What is it?”

“A huge part of me doesn’t want to wait, because I want the right to be able to kiss you, hug you, touch you, when I want, without trying to hide. The other part of me is frightened of telling them, in case it all falls apart.”

I pull her into my arms, “Oh babe, nothing is going to fall apart. I’ve waited a hell of a long time for you, I’m not about to lose you now.”

She smiles up to me and just takes my breath away, “I love you Gabe Sinclair.”

I can’t seem to stop grinning today. Hearing the words I’ve wanted to hear out of her mouth for years is definitely worth freezing my butt off for. “I love you too Bree Keller. Now let’s get moving before body parts start freezing off.”

“Ha, as long as the good parts stay where they are.”

“Come on, I have a thermos of hot chocolate in the truck and some snickerdoodles packed as well.”

We start to walk back around the hill to the truck, “Mom gave them to you didn’t she?”

I just grin at her, “Yes.” Seeing Bree raise an eyebrow, “She said to be good to you and to keep you warm.”

“She did?”

“Yeah. I did wonder whether she knew anything.”

“I hope so, it will make us being together easier.”

“Come on, we better head back, it’s snowing again. I don’t want to get stuck out here.”

Climbing into the cab of the truck, Bree quickly pours the hot chocolate into two cups and grabs the biscuits. Passing a cup to me, I have a quick drink and then get the truck going as I drive slowly down the lane.

Bree starts eating one of the biscuits and shares it with me by holding it to my mouth for me to take a bite. She’s looking after her man which makes me want to puff out my chest!

The snow’s coming down rather thick and fast which in turn is making me uneasy. I really don’t want to be out driving in this with Bree beside me.

“Gabe is the back lane to your place quicker than trying to get back to the house?”

Without taking my eyes off the road, “Yes it is. Okay we’ll head there, it’s probably safer and a short walk if we get stuck out here.”

I focus on getting us home in one piece, while Bree sits looking out of the window of the cab watching the snow, which is getting thicker and thicker.
