“Okay babe.” Climbing into his truck he suddenly stops and just looks at me.

Starting the engine Gabe leans over to me and places a kiss to my lips, “I love you with all my heart.”

My smile gets even wider, “I love you too Gabe. Not that I’m complaining, but what brought that on?”

“I just took one look at you and felt I’d been hit with cupid’s arrow.

I put my hand in front of my mouth trying to stifle a laugh. Looking back at Gabe he looks upset at my reaction, “Cupid’s arrow, huh?”

Gabe just grins back at me, “Yeah. You’re mine to keep now.”

“Don’t worry, I’ve waited a long time for you Gabe, I’m not going anywhere; ever.”

He takes hold of my hand as he starts driving to my parent’s house, “Good! I wouldn’t let you go anyway.”

Feeling more content than ever, I just sit back and relax as Gabe navigates the lane up to the house. The snow has started up again making visibility bad. We don’t have far to go and if it comes to it, we can always get out and walk. The lane is a private access road between my parent’s house and Gabe’s cabin, so leaving his truck on it in bad weather wouldn’t cause an accident.

“Gosh, this snow’s bad. I’m glad we’re staying here.” I say to Gabe as he pulls into my parent’s yard.

“Stay there babe.”

As Gabe opens the door for me, I start laughing because he’s impersonating a snowman, “You look good enough…. to lick!”

Gabe pulls me out of the truck, “Behave yourself, we’re going into your parents house, so no sex.” Gabe whispers.

I stare at him stunned, “I’m serious babe, there is no way I can have sex with you in there.” Gabe says, trying not to laugh.

Opening the kitchen door stops all talk of sex as Gabe lowers me to the floor, “Back in a minute.”

“Are you alright honey?” Dad asks me.

I walk over and give him a hug, “I’m fine Dad. I’m just so relieved everything worked out to mine and Gabe’s advantage. It would have broken my heart otherwise.”

“I know that.” Dad tells me all choked up.

“I think I need a hug too.”

Breaking away from Dad, I go and hug my Mom. I guess we’ve all been through it this past week. Part of me has been worried about Gabe, but he pointed out to me that nothing has changed for him other than he now has me.

Coming back through the kitchen door, I take his bag from him, “Put those in the lounge Gabe, I’ll take this upstairs.”

I run up to my room to take Gabe’s bag and breathe a sigh of relief as neither one of my parents heard the exchange between us both about his bag. We’ll face the music soon though, I have no doubt.

Just as I get back downstairs, Mom passes me two hot chocolate drinks. Walking back into the kitchen, Gabe comes over to me and wraps his arms around me from behind as I pass him his hot chocolate with marshmallows in.

This is the first time we’ve openly showed so much affection to each other in front of the whole family and it feels good. I love the fact that I can now put my hands on him without having to check who’s around first.

Noticing Travis sat on one of the chairs with Sarah sitting in his lap, I decide, better late than never, “Mom, Dad, Gabe is staying with me tonight.” Seeing the look on Dads face, “I was going to stay at the cabin, but with it being Christmas, I persuaded him to stay here with me instead.”

Dad puts his drink down, “Now honey, you know we don’t agree with that kind of thing until there’s a ring on your finger.”

I laugh, “Dad, I have a ring on my finger. Plus Dad, I bet you shared a room with Mom before you married?”

Choking on his chocolate drink, “That’s beside the point.” Dad replies, which has everyone falling about laughing as he starts getting all embarrassed.

Mom takes pity on him, “Leave your Dad alone. Bree it’s perfectly fine for Gabe to stay with you.”
