“Sumo is talking…a lot. He gave us a location. Carrie’s sister, Jessica, was found there, along with three other girls. It looks like they were rescued before anything could really happen to them. They’re damn lucky.” Hunter lifts Gia up from the chair and sitting back down, tugs her into his lap. “Jarrod has a shortcut on his cell to record, so the minute he realized what was happening he set it going. We have everything he said on there, which Sumo has signed to say is a true record.”

Julian holds my gaze. “So the threat has gone.”

“He got away once before,” Gia says, what I was thinking.

“Not this time,” Jarrod answers. “He’s being held elsewhere, which is classified so don’t ask.”

“Don’t worry about it.” Julian removes the cushion from my lap and takes my hand. “It’s all over with for now. There’ll be a trial, but everyone is safe now. All his associates are going to have scattered.” He pauses and glances at Ivy. “Brendan had been paid by Abatangelo to give him access to you.”

Ivy closes her eyes before she opens them, and says, “I knew there was something off with him. Luckily, my heart wasn’t involved,” she glances at Jarrod, and then back to the room at large, “and although I’m ashamed to admit it, but he was more of a distraction than anything else.” Ivy winces, resting her head back against the chair.

Sitting up, I crawl into Julian’s lap, snuggling against his chest. His arms come around me, holding me tightly against him as I feel his lips press softly against the top of my head. “You’ll be safe, honey. I promise,” he whispers.

“I know, but doesn’t this mean that you’ll have to head back to your base soon?” I ask my voice laced with fear because even if, no when, I go with him, he’ll still be in the line of danger.

His hands flex on my hips. “I promised you a few days alone. I don’t break a promise.”

“I, um,” Ivy mumbles before clearing her throat. “I just want to thank you all for coming for me earlier, and I’m only sorry that because of me you both were brought into it with me.”

Jarrod makes a weird noise befo

re he leaves the room. Ivy’s eyes follow him before she returns her attention to us. She swallows and the sadness on her face makes my heart hurt for her.

“Ivy,” Gia snags her attention, “go after him.”

She turns her head toward Jarrod’s office, but doesn’t move.

“Please go after him,” Gia begs. “I know he was a dick by walking away, but I know him, and he’s upset that you were in harms way. He needs you, Ivy.”

She doesn’t stand a chance against Gia now.

Ivy turns her gaze on Gia, “I love him.”

Tears pop into my eyes as the heart-felt words leave her mouth.

“Then go and tell him,” Gia suggests. “Like now.”

Hunter chuckles. “Not every one moves full speed ahead as quickly as you, my dear wife.”

Gia prods him in the stomach, and movement from the corner of my eye drags my attention to Ivy who is slowly moving out of the room.

“We all need a good nights sleep,” Julian states.

I raise a brow. “Oh really?”

He grins and standing with me in his arms, carries me upstairs.

Over his shoulder, I watch Ivy take a deep breath, just before she enters Jarrod’s office.

Jarrod

As the office door slowly opens, I drop my ass to the edge of my desk, my knuckles turning white as my fingers curl tightly in frustration. I’ve been fighting against either shaking her or fucking her since she put herself in front of me when that fucking asshole, Abatangelo, held a gun on me.
