She was so fucking beautiful, and she was coming for him. Because of him.

It was enough to send him over the edge. His hips jerked as he came, shouting her name as he let it all go.

It was the best sex of his life, and he wanted to stay in the moment. Connected to Kelly in a way he’d never been before.

It was Kelly who curled out from under him on her side, touching the lines of his face with the tips of her fingers.

“That was amazing.”

He put his hand on her hip, and stroked her soft skin with his thumb.

“Yeah, it really was.”

She leaned over, pressing her lips against his, and then pulled away with a grin. “I’m going to use the bathroom. If my legs will carry me that far.”

He laughed as he watched her get up from the bed. Even in the darkly lit room, the light from the living room shone through, highlighting Kelly’s curves like a spotlight. Her gorgeous ass swayed as she headed for the door.

“Turn on the light, would you?” he asked.

She did as he asked and stumbled a bit as she turned left out of the doorway and went down the hall. Once he heard the bathroom door shut, he lost his smile, staring up at the ceiling fan twirling.

What the hell had he started? He couldn’t regret it, because he realized how bad he’d wanted it for so long. All his other girlfriends had seen it, his friends had seen it. Everyone knew he’d wanted Kelly but him. It was a story too old to even contemplate. A guy lusting for his best friend without realizing it?

Or he just hadn’t wanted to know because the stakes were too high.

He rolled over to follow Kelly. Maybe he could convince her to take a shower, join her under the hot spray and run his hands over every inch of her beautiful body.

The light from the living room reflected off a picture collage to his left and he glanced over.

And stopped.

In between a picture of Kelly and her parents and Kelly standing in front of Something Borrowed was a picture from prom night. Ray and Chris stood on either side of Kelly. Chris’s date had ditched him to get back together with her ex-boyfriend, and Kelly had refused to let him be alone. She’d waved him into the picture with Ray, who had been good-natured about the whole thing.

He could still remember Kelly’s arm around his waist as the camera man had counted down.

“I’m so lucky. I have a date with two hot guys.”

Ray and Chris had both laughed just as the camera flashed so their mouths were open, their teeth exposed as they looked down at Kelly, who was innocently smiling for the camera.

Chris stared at the three kids who had been inseparable. He’d never been able to replace Ray in his life. He had friends, buddies from college he’d talk to and catch up with, but Ray had been with him since kindergarten. They’d grown up together and he’d never have that history with anyone else.

He focused on Kelly, her hair piled on her head in a fountain of curls tumbling down around her face and shoulders. Ray had been her first love. She’d been planning to marry him. Chris knew he’d held her entire heart, so when it came down to it, would she really be able to move on? To give herself completely to someone else?

The bathroom door opened, and Chris ducked back into the bedroom. Kelly came around the corner just as he sat down on the edge of the bed. She stood in the doorway, beautifully naked and smiling shyly.

“Can I shut the light off?” she asked.

“Yeah, I’m just going to get cleaned up too.”

“All right. Do you want to move this party upstairs?”

She was asking him to stay. She wasn’t kicking him out or telling him this was a mistake.

“I’ll meet you up there.”

“Okay.” She disappeared again, and Chris got up, shutting the light off when he left the room. When he finished in the bathroom, he climbed the stairs and found Kelly curled up under the covers with her back to him. He came around the other

side, watching her breathe deeply.
