“Please don’t stop,” I begged him as we broke apart. I could feel the hard length of him warm against my hip through his jeans, and his hand came up to squeeze softly at my breast as I spoke, making me catch my breath.

The cold air between us was charged and bright, like the breath of a thrashing summer storm, just waiting to break over the land. Connor kissed his way down my neck, and I moaned, arching up to meet him, uncaring of the sound in the seclusion of the forest. I could feel every mark of his hands on my body, just as I had in the shower, every imprint of fingerprints left like tattoos on my skin. Connor pulled my sweater over my head and through my satin bra, cupped the weight of my breasts, kneading softly. I threw my head back and Connor pressed our lips together again, moaning softly into my mouth as if he couldn't get enough. He splayed long, pale fingers over my belly and I felt strangely safe with him as I wrapped my legs around his waist. Connor pressed against me, teasing, and I reached down squeezing him through his jeans. I dug my fingers into the muscles of his back and his hand was on my breast, rubbing a thumb under the satin and softly over my nipple until I couldn’t take it anymore.

“Connor… please…” I couldn’t take it anymore. I felt as if I were a rubber band, tightened and ready to snap at any moment.

Connor flicked his tongue over mine gently and then he tugged the rest of our clothes away with haste. There was nothing but him at that moment and I needed him like I needed my own breath as it whooshed in and out of my lungs. The firelight painted him sunset orange and pale crimson and I watched him above me, beautiful and strong with his lean muscles and soft skin. His breath mingled with mine in the crackle of the flames and he bent down, flicking his tongue over my nipples until they pebbled softly under his touch. I dug my fingers into that golden hair and Connor kissed his way down my body until he reached the lace of my underwear. He tugged them down with his teeth, tossing them onto the blanket. He kissed down my belly and then lower, swirling his tongue and pressing long fingers inside of me until I cried out and he held me down, curling those fingers skillfully again and again. My breath caught and he moved up again, kissing me with his fingers still inside of me, teasing me. I wanted him so badly that my body throbbed, aching for him to fill the emptiness. When he finally, mercifully eased into me, I let out a gasp and Connor swallowed it with a kiss. He held me, moaning softly in my ear as I arched to meet his thrusts above me. I squeezed around him, curling my legs tighter around his waist where our bodies met. I heard his breathing hitch after a moment and he let out a sound of wild pleasure, burying himself deep within me and leaving soft bruises on my skin. I felt hazy as he pulled away from me and Connor let out a soft breath, pulling me close to his side beneath the blanket. The cold wind cooled the sweat on my brow and Connor kissed the side of my face.

“It can’t just be me, Connor, it can’t,” I murmured quietly. “It can’t just be me.”

I heard Connor let out a breath beside me. “No, it’s not just you,” he said and I looked up at the sound of his voice, so resigned and soft.

“Connor, I don’t think it’s just a reality show for us anymore.” I felt idiotic as soon as I said it, but it was true. We were here, hot from sex and curled into each other on a blanket by a fire in the woods. This wasn’t for the show and it wasn’t for anyone else.

“Yeah, you think?” Connor asked but there was no sarcasm and no bite to the tone of his voice. It was the tone of someone who was feeling overwhelmed, and I was worried that he would brush us under the rug, and in doing so prove himself to be more like his father than I thought him to be.

“Sadie,” he said, his lips brushing my ear and pulling goosebumps over my skin even as the fire warmed me. “I don’t think falling in love was part of the contract.”

I sucked in a breath, my toes curling at his admission. Connor was actually in love with me. Even though his soft touch made his feelings clearer than his words ever could, I still felt a burst of joy inside of me at his unexpected confession of love. I knew that I loved him too. I knew it in the way that I knew my own name or my mother’s favorite color and her flowery perfume. I knew it with every little part of me and every ounce of knowledge that I had. He was more than I ever thought he could be, and I had fallen in love with him without even realizing it was happening.
