I turned my back on her so she wouldn’t be able to see the smile I could no longer hide. I wanted to remain firm and dominant for a little bit longer, even though my cock wanted to be buried deep inside her. I wanted to kiss her and praise her for submitting to a true punishment, but it wasn’t time. She needed a firm and strong hand right now. I needed to stay focused on the goal and what I managed to do tonight. My little brat had been tamed… for now.

BELLAMY

My ass was sore all the next day, and I just knew it would be sore tomorrow too. I was doing a fine job of ignoring Emmett for most of the day. I slept in for as long as His Highness would allow, then it was all “Yes, Sir” this and “Yes, Sir” that until I thought I might stab him in the face with my fingernails, except I’d spent an hour this afternoon giving myself a manicure, and it would be a shame to waste it by scratching his eyes out.

That was, until he started completely ignoring me for what he called “work time.” When he finally shut his laptop lid five hours later and announced, “All right, it’s time for some fresh air,” around five, I all but leaped off the bed. He hadn’t even stopped working for lunch. Mrs. H had brought our food to us, and if I had to stay cooped up in this bedroom for another minute, I was going to go stir-crazy.

I wasn’t sure if Emmett sensed my nervous energy or if he genuinely wanted to go for a walk himself, but I didn’t care. I’d never considered that the one thing that might make this whole thing impossible for me was the part where I was cooped up for three months. It wasn’t the staying inside part that was a problem; it was the silence. Emmett liked it absolutely silent while he worked.

When I was at home, Mom always had the TV on in the background, and I was usually watching some YouTube or TikTok or something on my phone, plus music on most of the time too.

I hated silence. It drove me absolutely batty.

Heaven to me was an EDM club with a bass thumping so loud you couldn’t hear yourself think. Thinking was so goddamn overrated. I’d do anything to get away from my own head sometimes.

I had my shoes on by the time Emmett turned around. “Ready,” I chirped cheerily.

He lifted an eyebrow but didn’t say anything. He just went to the dresser and got a pair of socks. I tried not to watch him carefully pull them on. It was stupid that even his feet were sexy. I looked out the window instead. It was October, and all the leaves were in full fire colors.

I got up and went to wait impatiently by the door.

“Maybe we should stay in, to teach my little subbie some patience.”

I looked over my shoulder at him, mouth open. But then he tilted his head. “You did take your punishment well last night though.”

I shut my mouth, clenching my teeth so I didn’t shout something at him that would earn me another punishment and have him taking away my walk. One thing was true about all he’d said—people rarely said no to me in my life before now. At least so directly.

Either way, I kept my mouth shut as he got his shoes on and led the way out of the room, through the hallway, and down the staircase. It was strange walking through the mansion while it was so quiet. The only other time I’d been out was for breakfast, and we’d just walked to a morning breakfast room that was on the second story.

But I wasn’t bothering too much looking around. The air in here felt stale, and I wanted out. Besides, I was used to old houses and antiques. I didn’t know why people had such a hard-on for old places like this.

I’d always dreamed of escaping and seeing things that were new. New places, new faces. Where no one knew a goddamned thing about your past or cared who your grandfather was or wasn’t.

Finally, we pushed through the large double doors into the fresh autumn air. I paused for only a moment on the steps after Emmett shut the doors behind us and breathed in deep.

God, that was good. I hurried down the stone steps of the huge house to the gravel below. Emmett stayed beside me, but I had the feeling that he was hurrying at my unexpected burst of speed.

He’d probably think I was crazy if I broke into a run. But the fresh air against my skin felt so damn good. I was wearing leggings and a tank top, but Georgia stayed sultry and warm until well into mid-November some years, including this one.
