He broke from the kiss, but our lips remained connected. “Are you okay?”

I shuddered at the husky sound of his voice. The ability to speak abandoned me. I could only nod my head in response. Malcolm pulled back to look at me. The smile on his face set thousands of butterflies loose in my stomach. With his finger, he traced down my nose, over my lips, down my chin, coming to rest at my neck where my necklace sat. He stared at me, not speaking, but the smile never left his face. It was in that moment that I felt it. The look on his face conveyed how much he loved me. How much he cherished me. My breath hitched. I was overcome with emotion and had to look away. His fingers were on my chin, bringing my gaze back to him.

“Hey, what’s wrong.”

I shook my head. Tears rolled from my eyes. I brought my hands up to caress his face, and leaned up so I could kiss him. Wrapping my legs around him, I lifted my hips, needing him now more than ever. Malcolm didn’t hesitate. He pushed forward filling me. I fell back against the pillow, and snaked my arms around his back. His muscles rippled under my touch as he slowly slid in and out of me. I closed my eyes. My body was attuned to every thrust. Each one bringing a moan from my lips. He was in no hurry, and I didn’t want this to end.

Malcolm’s breath was hot on my neck as he licked, kissed, and suckled my flesh. My legs fell from around his waist. I lifted my hips, wanting him deeper. His fingers dug into my thighs. Puffs of warm air hit my ear from his ragged breathing. I was close; my body remained sensitive, hot and pulsating from his masterful attention.

My nails clawed at his back. More tears leaked from my eyes. “Fuck! Yes!”

His thrusts got harder. Faster. My nails dug into his back, needing something to hold on to. He lifted me. We sat face to face, with my legs wrapped around his waist. Our bodies moving in sync, I rocked against him with each upward thrust. Our eyes locked on one another. My hands went to his face, and I pressed my lips to his in desperate need to have every connection I could with this man. Our tongues wrestled for control. Grunts and moans filling the space around us.

I pulled away, dropped my head and arching my back as another wave of pleasure crashed over my body. Malcolm’s strong arms held me tight as he pushed into me over and over. Each time harder and deeper than the last until he let out a long, throaty grunt. The warmth of his release pumped free. My convulsing body welcomed him, milking him until there was nothing left.

We fell back onto the bed. Our bodies covered in a soft sheen of perspiration. Our breathing: heavy and loud. We looked at each other; he wore a cocky smile as his thumb came up to wipe away my tears.

“Told you I could make you cry.” He winked and gave me a quick peck on the lips before rolling off the bed.

I rolled to the side, watching as he removed the condom I’d not realized he put on. He headed to the bathroom, returning shortly still wearing that cocky grin. He turned off the lights, climbed into bed, and pulled me close. I felt his lips on my forehead.

“I love you, Ginger.”

My hand went to his face. I loved the feel of his beard, the way the hair tickled my palm. The words were on the tip of my tongue. Part of me had a pull to say it back. Almost as if they needed to be said, but I held back. What if it was just the sex talking? No, now was not the right time. When I uttered those words, I couldn’t have any doubt.

“Promise?” I whispered.

He took a deep breath. His arm tightened around me. “Promise. Cross my heart and hope to die.”

I nuzzled my head against his chest and wrapped my arm around his waist. “Such a romantic.”

He let out a yawn. “I know.”

I snuggled close to him, and let the gentle thumping of his heart lull me. His fingers made little circles on my arm. “I went back on the pill,” I said mid yawn.

He didn’t respond. Merely held me tighter and placed a kiss on my head.

Chapter 46

Malcolm

I groaned as I swung my legs over the edge of the bed. Running my hands down my face, I tried to get the blood flowing. Casting a glance over my shoulder, I looked back at the empty bed, and a smile tugged at my lips.

Pushing off the bed, I headed to the bathroom to take a leak and brush my teeth. When I was finished, I picked up my boxers and slipped the

m on before heading downstairs.

The sound of their voices drifted toward me as I strolled into the main room. Ginger and Shawn sat at the kitchen table having breakfast. Her hair was slightly askew, but she looked absolutely radiant sitting at the table in one of my white T-shirts, one side hanging off her shoulder. Not a care in the world, smiling at her son over eggs and Cheerios.

“Da-da.”

Ginger turned at Shawn’s acknowledgement. She hid her smile behind her hand, turning away for a moment before facing me again. “Mornin’.”

I walked over, smoothing her fly-away hair as I leaned down to kiss the top of her head. “Good morning.” I ruffled the top of Shawn’s head on the way into the kitchen to make coffee. “You sleep okay?”

She looked back at me, grinning from ear to ear. “I slept amazingly well.”

I winked. “You’re welcome.”
