“If it wasn’t for having your dick in my mouth, I don’t think I would have seen that second clue.”

My jaw cracked before I guffawed. No one was close enough to hear, having dispersed for drinks and appetizers. His words had my cock twitching between us, same as his.

“Did I say something wrong?”

He knew full fucking well he didn’t say anything wrong.

“Yeah,” I answered, cocking my head, looking deep into his eyes. “You didn’t say ‘huge.’”

His turn to crack his jaw and laugh. Two could play that game.

“My bad.” He kissed me, smiling. “If it wasn’t for having your dick in my mouth, I think I would have missed that huge clue.”

“Oh fuck you.” I gave him a playful hit to the side before his lips came back to mine, both of us smiling into the kiss. Thankfully by now everyone had left the room for the dining room, leaving us together alone inside the massive foyer. A playful holiday song jingled in the background as we kissed, his hands sliding down to grab handfuls of my ass.

“I’m seriously glad you took time off work to come with me,” Theo said, his big lips gleaming. “I really meant it when I said this Christmas was unforgettable.”

“It’s still not even over yet.”

“No, no it’s not.” Theo kissed me again, his chest against mine, his heart beating against mine. “We’ve got time for a few more memorable moments.”

The rest of that evening was spent doing exactly that. We indulged in one last kiss before splitting and joining up with the group, playing card games before gathering for a mouthwatering and chef-cooked five-course meal. The entire Stonewall Investigations team sat with their loved ones, laughing and joking and bonding together in a way that warmed my heart down to its core.

Then, when everyone was full and their bellies sore from laughing, the group started breaking for their bedrooms, most of them on the second floor.

Theo and I went to ours, where we fell together onto the huge four-post bed, holly-filled garland wrapped around them.

“Ñooo, this is a big bed,” Theo said, lying down and spreading himself without touch any of the edges, completely naked.

“Let’s use every fucking inch of it,” I said, climbing onto it and keeping my word.

We used every inch of that bed.

And the floor.

And bathtub.

And shower.

And—yeah, an entirely unforgettably Christmas. That’s what Santa had brought me this year, and I couldn’t find a single complaint. Not when I went to sleep with Theo’s heavy arm thrown over me, offering a comfort I couldn’t quite explain but one I never thought I’d want to let go of.

“Night, Theo, and thanks again. For saving Christmas.”

“All in a day’s work.” He chuckled, his feet crossed with mine under the covers. “Merry Christmas, Mav.”

We fell asleep together, the warmth of the holiday season taking on an entirely new shape this year, wrapping around me as tight as Theo’s arms did.

Chapter 1

Dusty Gold

You know what’s the first thing I usually do after I finish a brutal integrated physics exam I spent all night studying for?

I go straight back to my apartment and crash face-first into the couch, where I proceed to sleep for the next two days, fighting off a mix of sleep-paralysis demons and dreams of my sexy rugby player neighbor, who constantly wore gym shorts without any underwear underneath, only waking up to feed my four-legged roommate, who insisted on purring on my face every morning at six forty-five, like cat-work.

So when Kira Davenport, my best friend, who was standing there with her annoyingly beautiful shimmering face of perfectly done make-up, asked me to go out tonight, I quickly shut it down with a resounding “hell to the N-O.”

“Oh come on,” she said, adjusting the Coach book bag she had picked up on her last holiday vacation.

“I can’t. I’m honestly about to pass out in that bush over there.” I motioned with my chin toward a particularly comfortable-looking bush next to the bus stop we were sitting in. There were a couple more kids standing around, chatting, holding their backpack straps. Everyone had ditched their winter jackets and swapped them out for shorts for the Spring.

Me included.

“You can pass out for a few hours. Then I’ll pick you up and we can have the best night of our freaking lives.”
