Xoxox,

Billy

“This. . .” I choke on my words. “This is why you went?”

He nods. “To finish what he started.”

I don’t know how to take it in. He told me he was leaving. But I refused to listen to anything other than he was leaving me. I only thought about myself. How he was being selfish and not considering my feelings. He was putting both our feelings on hold to give my brother his dying wish.

“I. . .I can’t—I need a minute—”

“Oh, no, you don’t.” He snatches me up before I escape. Before I can hide away and surrender to my grief.

“Please, let me go.” He pulls me to him, resting my head against his chest as the dam breaks. I fall apart, and the tears pour down my cheeks. My grief comes in waves, stealing my breath as I choke down my sobs. Liam cradles me in his arms. “I never asked. I never cared to ask why. I just thought of myself. How I felt. I never asked why you—”

“Shhh. . .it wouldn’t have changed anything.”

I rip out of his arms. “It would have changed everything.”

“Would it have, though? Would you have said yes to coming with me? Yes to waiting for me? Yes to years of worrying I would end up like your brother? I still left you. I chose to walk away.”

“For him. You did it for him.” My chest burns with disgust. This whole time, I was the selfish one. Old wounds burst open, channeling the emptiness I’ve felt since Billy died. “God, I miss him. I miss him so much.”

“I miss him too. Every fucking day.” Liam slides his hands under my arms and lays me on the bed, kissing away the tears that fall on my cheeks. He trails down my neck to the center of my chest, using his tongue to massage a perked nipple. I gasp on a sob when his lips continue to graze down past my navel and cover my mound. Two hands clasp my thighs, and he opens me wide, licking at my slick heat.

“Liam,” I whisper in a plea. I exhale a staggered moan as his tongue works itself inside me. In and out, it causes me to lose all sense. I slowly forget the pain burning inside me, letting pleasure take over. My hips move as I ride his mouth. Another choppy moan escapes when he adds a thick finger. “Yes, yes. . .” I pant, needing more. “Please don’t stop. Don’t ever stop. Don’t ever leave me.” I’m too lost to acknowledge the pleas that fall from my tongue. He inserts a second finger and thrusts deep inside me. My body shakes.

He doesn’t show me any mercy as he works his fingers harder. My hips buck under him, but he holds me down, forcing me to take the pleasure he’s granting me. “Liam,” I whimper his name as I come undone, my body shattering before collapsing. He reaches for a condom, ripping open the package with his teeth and strokes it down his throbbing erection. Aligning himself at my sex, he pushes inside me. I grip his shoulders, holding his chest close to mine.

“I’ve got you, Holls. I always have. I always fucking will.” He fucks me purposefully. Making a statement. A vow. Telling me I’m his, and he’s mine.

We come together, both names falling off our lips. When we collapse against one another, he tucks me to his side. “Sleep. You need it. We’ll figure it out in the morning.”

Too spent to delve into everything we need to figure out, I close my eyes and find sleep within seconds.

I got lucky this morning when I snuck into the house, trying to dodge my parents. Nothing like explaining where you’ve been and why you look like you’ve been tossed around like a rag doll all night—especially when you told them you were sleeping at Kelly Anne’s. Awkward!

Thankfully, they were already at the store.

Showered and looking less ravaged, I’m on mission number two of sneaking into the store without bringing attention to myself. I open the door slowly, cringing when the bell goes off. “Jingle Bells” blares from the speakers, and I blow out a quick breath. In the clear. When no one pops out of the backroom, I ditch my jacket behind the register, run down an aisle, and throw myself at a shelf, pretending to organize—

“There you are, honey.”

“Gah!” I jump three feet at the sound of my mom’s voice. “Jesus almighty. A little warning next time. You scared the crap out of me!”

“I’m sorry. How long have you been here? I thought you were coming this morning?”

I shrug, looking at my wrist where I’m not wearing a watch. “Oh, I don’t know, a few hours. I’ve been organizing. Some of these containers. Super messy.”

Dad and Liam walk up from the back, and I fight the blush creeping up my cheeks as our eyes lock. Liam stifles a smile, and I have to look away.
