“Um, no. It’s nothing like that, just…every time I meet you, I do things that don’t seem much like me.”

“So you don’t let random strangers take you to their hotel rooms while you’re drunk?” he asked. “Or spend a whole day with them and have sex in a limo? Then meet them two years later and fuck in the back of a bar?”

I giggled again. “Um, no. I’ve only ever done that sort of thing around you. I’m usually a good little girl.”

He smirked. “You’re trying to flatter me again, aren’t you? Don’t worry; it’s working. Unless you dislike that I make you act outside of your comfort zone?”

“Not so much out of my comfort zone, but out of the usual. And you really shouldn’t be so proud, you know? My parents would think you were a bad influence.”

He chuckled. “I’ve heard that from quite a few people. Not that many recently, though.”

I sighed. “Let’s get out of here before someone shows up. It’ll be pretty easy to figure out what we were doing out here.”

We double-checked to make sure nothing was out of place. Because he didn’t have anywhere else to leave it, Jake had to fix his sleeves and put on his coat. It was a little wrinkled, and I felt guilty about that because it looked really expensive, but there wasn’t anything anyone could point fingers at. Still, as Jake led the way back inside and through the bar, my face was burning as I did my best not to look at anyone.

It wasn’t until we’d come out through the front when I felt something soaking my panties, and I remembered.

Crap.

Not again.

Jake turned to me, and I thought he was about to invite me to his hotel again. I spoke up before he could.

“Um, do you mind if we make a quick stop? I need to go to the pharmacy.”

He tilted his head, looking at me with confused eyes.

The burn in my cheeks hadn't gone down, and I thought it was flaring again. I walked closer so I could lower my voice, rising on the tips of my toes.

“We didn’t use protection,” I explained.

He was confused for another second before his eyes lit up, then he frowned.

“You’re right. Sorry, that’s pretty careless of me, I can usually control myself better than that, but I didn’t have plans when I came down here…”

A part of me felt happy about that. He didn’t come here to meet women, but I didn’t know where he lived, or if he was still single. Hell, thinking back, I didn’t know if he was single when I first met and slept with him.

I didn’t have the heart to ask, I just hoped.

There was a pharmacy not too far from the school, and we decided to walk there. It was super uncomfortable for me, but I knew I’d be even more uncomfortable. When you walk into a pharmacy with a man and ask for a pill, then take it right there, it wasn’t a hard leap to take.

Maybe I should buy some underwear, too.

Already, I didn’t think I’d be going home.

We arrived at the pharmacy not long after, and I was glad to see we were the only ones. Jake walked around, and I let him as I stood at the counter and talked to the lady behind the counter. I asked with my face burning, and I didn’t miss how her gaze shot toward where Jake was, before flitting back. Her lips twitched.

“I’ll be right back with what you need, ma’am,” she said politely, then scurried off around the back.

I sighed and looked over at Jake. He was coming back to me, carrying a few boxes of condoms. I turned away quickly, thinking my face must be as red as a fire truck by now. Jake just chuckled beside me as he put the boxes down on the counter and reached into his pocket for his wallet.

The lady came back with the pill and a cup of water. Her eyes flitted between Jake and me, and the box of condoms on the counter. Her lips twitched some more, and I thought I saw her checking Jake out.

“Here you go, ma’am,” she said, handing them to me.

I was embarrassed, but I couldn’t help a sigh of relief, too, as I took the pill and the cup. I tossed the pill into my mouth and swallowed it down with the water. Then I held the cup back and smiled. She went to return the cup.

“Can't let it happen again,” I muttered to myself.
